Greetings! My name is Hamid, and I reside in a small area called Merzouga, right next to the Sahara Desert.
Desert Backpackers Camp is a cozy and welcoming place designed for travelers, adventurers, and backpackers who wish to experience the desert in an authentic and affordable way. With a private tent for up to 3 guests , the Camp also offers a living tent, a fully equipped kitchen, and a terrace overlooking the dunes. It is the perfect base to explore Merzouga and its surroundings.
Here, we combine the simplicity of Berber life with the comfort every traveler needs. Beyond accommodation, we help our guests create unforgettable desert experiences – from camel rides and jeep tours to magical nights under the starry sky.
At Desert Backpackers Camp, you don’t just stay – you become part of the desert’s story.
I grew up living a nomadic life, and I would love to share my culture, food, and knowledge of nomadic families and their lifestyle with you. Whatever your interests may be, I am eager to show you around and make your stay an unforgettable one.

Desert Backpackers Camp
is a quiet and traditional Berber Camp located right at the edge of the Erg Chebbi dunes in Merzouga. From here, you can step out of your door and find yourself surrounded by the golden sands of the Sahara.
The neighborhood offers a peaceful atmosphere where you can truly experience desert life. You will see many tourists crossing the dunes by camels in the traditional way, giving you an authentic glimpse into Berber culture.
Despite its calm setting,Our Camp is located behind the big dunes , but sometimes we move it from a place to place depending on tourists and wish spot they like to spend the night, and its easy access to camel tours, desert excursions, and jeep adventures. its a perfect spot to enjoy breathtaking sunsets and sunrises over the dunes, or simply relax on the terrace dunes under a sky full of stars.
Staying in Desert Backpackers Camp means you are not just visiting the desert – you are becoming part of it.
