Hi! My name is Evert and I am a musician working and teaching in Amsterdam. I studied violin at several conservatoires in Holland and the United Kingdom. I have two sweet cats - Lucas and Snout - whom I love to take care off. On the groundfloor of the building is my teaching-studio. Private room in a canalhouse dating from 1608 situated on Singel Canal in the oldest part of Amsterdam. Double bed for two persons. Centrally located, 5-10 min. walk from Central Trainstation. Lots of restaurants and shops at short walking distance. In the room there is Wifi, Cable TV and a DVD-player. There is no kitchen in this room, however you can make tea and coffee. The double bed in the room measures 200 x 180 cm. and it consists out of two separate LATEX mattresses each measuring 200 x 90 cm. I live in the same building. My quarters are situated in the basement of the house, on the groundfloor and one room on the first floor at the rearside of the house. On the floor above the BnB-room the upstairs neighbours reside. They are aware of the fact that I have a guestroom and are considerate. Please note that you will be residing in a private house, not in a hotel with soundproof rooms. Dutch canalhouses can be rather noisy and the room is not soundproof like some hotelrooms are, but it has lots of character. During the day I occasionally will have a violinstudent come for a lesson, so you may sometimes occasionally hear some violinplaying in the background. ➤ It is important for guests to realise that this private room is situated in a house in the very centre of Amsterdam in the middle of the hustle and bustle of the old city, a house more than 400 years old. This means that the levels of sound isolation required for modern buildings cannot be met without eliminating the charm and character of a 17th. Century house. In other words: the sound-isolation in this house is not ideal. In the apartment above the guestroom the upstairs neighbours live. You may hear footsteps on the stairs and also footsteps coming form the apartment above. At short walkingdistance from my house (5 min. walk) is the Centraal Station (central trainstation) where trains can get you to other city's in Holland and from where trams and buses and the metro can take you anywhere in the city. In my neighbourhood there are lots of things to see. I live in the oldest part of Amsterdam. There are restaurants, shops, several organic foodshops ('Ecoplaza' on Haarlemmerdijk 160-164 en 'Marqt' on Haarlemmerstraat 165) and many museums. Many of these museums are in walking distance from my house.
