Løstegård Hytter is a family-run business run by Reidun and Ragnar, with help from our three sons - Harald, Emil, and Lars. In addition to the cabin rental, we operate a dairy farm. We build, restore, clean, and handle most of the tasks ourselves. It is important for us to use local and traditional materials of high quality, to ensure an authentic Norwegian cabin experience. During the summer, From June 20th to September 1st, we move our livestock to the "seter", our mountain farm, which is close to the cabins. "Seterdrift" is a traditional Norwegian practice where farmers move their animals to higher mountain pastures (seter) during the summer months. This allows the animals to graze on fresh mountain grass, while also giving the lower farmland time to recover. This is something our family has done since the 18th century. On the mountain farm, we milk the cows in the morning and in the evening, and children (and adults) are welcome to participate. All the cabins offer a scenic view of nearby nature, and sitting "by the cabin wall" and listening to the bells of grazing cows and sheep is a wonderful and authentic experience.

Our cabins are located around 1000 meters above sea level in a peaceful mountain pasture area on the southwest side of Golsfjellet, between Gol and Hemsedal. These cabins are perfect for those who prefer not to stay in a crowded cabin village. In this tranquil setting, our guests can enjoy the silence of nature and the serenity of the dark, free from any light pollution. We strive to ensure that our guests have a pleasant stay and a memorable experience in the beautiful cultural landscape on the sunny side of Golsfjellet. From June 20th to September 1st, we operate a mountain farm with dairy cows and chickens, where children (and adults) can participate in milking and taking care of the animals at the farm, as well as, learning more about Norwegian agriculture. During the winter, well-groomed ski trails start right outside the cabin door, with several ski centers just a short drive away. Here, we want our guests to find peace and create wonderful memories in the Norwegian mountains.

Our guests love that the area is family-friendly and peaceful, and that our cabins are close to a small lake called Tunnetjern and mountains at Golsfjellet. In the nearby lake Tunnetjern, you can go fishing or swimming. In addition, you can borrow a boat or a canoe for free. During the summer, the cabins offer access to a wide selection of hiking and mountain biking trails at Golsfjellet. The area is popular for mountain biking and is considered one of Norway's best areas for this activity. From the cabins, you have direct access to Golsfjellet's fantastic cross-country skiing network (200 km). Near the cabins, there are beautiful areas for sledding and playful skiing. Our cabins are also a 30-minutes drive from Hemsedal, where you will find many great hikes such as Veslehorn or Skogshorn, in addition to the second-largest ski centre in Norway. From Easter until late June, the area is bustling with wildlife, including plenty of capercaillie.
