Jarle and Marie are an adult couple with 3 children of their own and two stepchildren who both have leading and responsible jobs. We are conscientious and will do our best to ensure that our guests enjoy themselves.

Welcome to our newly built, 70 m² apartment in Bud—a practical starting point for discovering the fjords, mountains, and coastal culture of Romsdal. Tucked just a few minutes’ walk from Bud’s small harbour and cafés, the flat lets you stroll to town yet retreat to quiet surroundings when the day is done. Inside, you’ll find an open-plan kitchen and living room that makes it easy to cook, chat, and relax in one space. The kitchen is fully equipped and seats four at the table; the living area is furnished in a simple, homelike style so you can put your feet up without feeling like you’re in a showroom. The tiled bathroom has a walk-in shower and a washing machine for longer stays. In summer, a private terrace adds an extra room in the open air. We are two local hosts with long experience in the area. We speak both Norwegian and English, keep a low profile while you’re here, and respond quickly if you need anything—from a spare towel to tips on the best hiking trails or fishing spots. Whether you’re planning day trips around Romsdal or a quiet coastal weekend, our apartment offers a straightforward, comfortable base you can feel at home in.

Bud sits at the very edge of the Romsdal coast, where fishing huts and boathouses still fringe the old harbour that once ranked among the busiest trading posts between Bergen and Trondheim in the 1500s. A five-minute stroll from the flat takes you to the waterfront cafés, the coastal trail and Ergan Coastal Fort—a World-War-II lookout now restored as a small museum with wide views over the notorious Hustadvika shipping lane. From Bud the scenery opens quickly. Ten minutes by car puts you on the Atlantic Road, an 8-kilometre chain of low islands and sculptural bridges often named among Norway’s great drives; it begins (or ends) right here in Bud before leaping north toward Kristiansund. If you prefer cities in small doses, Molde—the “Town of Roses”—is 45 kilometres east. Climb (or drive) to the Varden viewpoint for its classic 222-peak panorama, or time a July visit for Moldejazz, when the streets fill with open-air concerts and pop-up galleries for a week. One hour inland lies Åndalsnes, the mountaineering hub of Romsdal. Here you can ride the Rauma Railway—voted one of Europe’s most scenic lines—or test your legs on the steep path to the Rampestreken platform and the airy Romsdalseggen ridge hike. Trollstigen’s hair-pin road and viewpoints, closed for rock-stabilisation, are due to reopen on 14 July 2025, making the classic Geiranger–Trollstigen loop accessible again later in the summer. Whether your day ends with fresh crab on Bud’s quayside, a ferry ride to the deserted Bjørnsund islands, or a sunset photo stop on the Atlantic Road, you’ll return to a coastline that remains refreshingly low-key. Think of Bud as a quiet base camp: the sea at the doorstep, fjords and summits in easy reach, and just enough local life to feel part of the place rather than simply passing through.
