Boatsheds on the Bay is owned and managed by a small team of savvy Waiheke residents who are passionate about the island and understand what makes it such a standout destination to stay, play, and relax. Through the care of our personable on-site hosts, Jenny and Paul, we began hosting exclusively with the Starfish Apartment but later expanded in 2018 with the addition of the four purpose-built 'boatshed' cabins. Now a dedicated accommodation property of five total units, we happily host guests from around the world all year long as they make our Waiheke home theirs.

Welcome to Boatsheds on the Bay, Waiheke Island! Our picturesque 1.25-acre property in Ostend provides excellent waterfront views of Putiki Bay while being conveniently close to shops, cafes, public bus stops, vineyards, and so much more. Whether you're a solo traveller looking for tranquillity or a couple seeking a quick weekend getaway to Waiheke, our four well-equipped boatshed cabins are cheerful and comfortable with the water's edge just outside your door. Self-contained and intimate yet nearby to one another, our boatsheds are an ideal solution for groups travelling to the motu for a wedding or other island event. Relax and unwind on your deck, paddle around in our kayaks, hang out in the communal green space or cook up a BBQ coastal picnic - all just outside the door. Please note that young children and infants are not permitted into the boatshed cabins due to size, facilities, and overall guest experience. For parties of three or more - including guests with little ones in tow - the two-bedroom Starfish Apartment offers true home-away-from-home amenities and extra comfort. Situated at the top of our property, the view of Putiki Bay is superb from your private balcony. An excellent option for two couples or a family, the spacious Starfish Apartment comes with everything you need for a quick island visit or an extended holiday. Our property is bursting with quintessential Waiheke charm, including a long sloped driveway common across the island's varied terrain. Those will mobility issues may wish to hire a taxi or bring a car for transportation, both on the island and our property. On-site and off-street parking are available to guests at no charge.

Waiheke Island is only a short 35-40 minute ferry ride from the Auckland CBD, with our property centrally located on the shore of Putiki Bay in Ostend. Boatsheds on the Bay is a five minute drive from the Waiheke car ferry terminal at Kennedy Point and a 15 minute drive from the passenger ferry terminal at Matiatia. We're only a 5 minute walk away from the nearest bus stops serving both the Waiheke public bus system (ATHop card required) and sightseeing tour bus, connecting you with the rest of the island with ease. Goldie Estate Vineyard is just down the road, bringing wine tasting and nibbles within a 5 minute walk. Not far is Belgium Street, the heart of Ostend, where several lovely cafes, shops, a pharmacy, Countdown supermarket, and the famed Ostend Market - a Waiheke institution every Saturday morning - can be found. Te Ara Hura Walk Waiheke Network trails and the Waiheke Cycle paths are also close by. Seven vineyards and one distillery - Goldie Estate, Kennedy Point, Wild on Waiheke, Tantalus, Stonyridge, Te Motu, Postage Stamp, and The Heke - are within a 10-15 minute drive from our property, with more award winning vineyards and restaurants to be found beyond. Oneroa Village is the prime place for evening dining, award winning gelato, and shopping, not to mention direct access to our most popular swimming beach.
