Our home is on the hillside in York Bay overlooking Wellington Harbour and your accommodation is on the lower level. It is private, spacious, quality accommodation with its own deck. Amazing views,sunsets and bird-songs. The large studio has a king bed, two couches (one with a pull-out double bed), small table & chairs, large TV, DVD & CD players. This room also contains a small fridge, tea & coffee making facilities and a toaster. Quality continental breakfast provisions are provided in the studio (no cooking facilities available). A second good size bedroom has a queen bed, TV/DVD player. There is free WiFi, a range of books, CD’s and movies for you to enjoy. We only take one booking at a time, so the separate bathroom is only shared by members of your party (suitable for two couples or families with children 12+). In summer you are welcome to share the use of our solar heated swimming pool. Laundry facilities are also available. There is separate access available via steep steps on the side of the house and plenty of free parking on the road.
Your hosts Cathy and Ross live upstairs and will respect your privacy. We have lived locally for many years and know the area well. Having travelled extensively within NZ and overseas we can provide useful ideas for your ongoing travels. We enjoy meeting new people and are happy to be as involved in your stay as little or much as you wish.
Our home is in York Bay which overlooks Wellington harbour and Matiu/Somes Island. It is a lovely quiet suburb of the Eastbourne Bay area. You are surrounded by trees and ponga ferns which are typical New Zealand bush and the big plus is that we have lovely views of Wellington harbour and enjoy sun from late morning to the end of the day. Our sunsets are spectacular. For the adventurous there are bush walking tracks within the bay, or you can walk for longer distances to the cafes in Days Bay and Eastbourne. We are close to Petone where there a some lovely shops and a large variety of dining only 10 minutes drive away or on the bus route at the bottom of our bay. There is a ferry to Wellington running from Days Bay (4 minute drive) and this is a lovely way to go to Wellington city for the day. We have several great cafes in Days Bay and Eastbourne itself and a couple of local restaurants ranging in casual to fine dining. There is always something to do and we can offer suggestions.
