Oxford Holiday Cottage is a modern, two bedroom, self-contained, self catering cottage set on 10 acres in Oxford, North Canterbury, New Zealand. The cottage sleeps up to 6 guests. It is perfect for that weekend getaway, holiday or ski trip. Due to previous issues WE NO LONGER ACCEPT BOOKINGS FOR BRIDAL PARTY GROUPS attending weddings or other wedding related events. The cottage is fully furnished to a high standard, it has a spacious open plan living area, two bedrooms & a bathroom. It is cleaned to a high standard & we take the time to iron the bed sheets. Towels are also provided. The cottage is lovely & warm with high levels of insulation - perfect for that winter getaway. There is firewood provided & the log burner can be lit for your arrival. There is air conditioning for the hot summer days. The main bedroom has a queen bed and the second bedroom has a double bunk and a single bed. The cottage is on our “lifestyle block” where we live (30 metres from the cottage) and we are happy to introduce you to our lovely chickens! We also have three steers. We have Oxford Tiny House on the property (approx 12 metres from the cottage) which is available to stay in. Strictly no parties. No smoking or vaping inside. We no longer accept bookings for bridal parties. We try our best to limit our impact on the environment. Our tap water is suitable for drinking. Reusable coffee cups and water bottles are available for your use whilst you are staying here. Recycling bins are provided. We provide full sized bathroom products (not miniatures) which are to stay here as we refill them. We also have a compost bin for any food scraps which we feed to our chickens! You can feed the chickens & watch the cattle (3 steers) lazing the day away. There are also sheep, goats, a peacock and horses in the neighbouring properties. Relax & unwind, see the silly antics of the chickens, watch the cattle, explore the forest & enjoy our little piece of paradise that is New Zealand!

The cottage is just a short drive (5km) to the Oxford township. Enjoy a walk at the Ashley Gorge loop track where you can see across the Canterbury plains then on to the waterfall. For longer walks head up Mount Oxford or the Ryde Falls. There are local horse treks, kayak on the Ashley River or have a jetboat ride on the Waimakariri River. There are lovely boutique shops, cafes, restaurants and a supermarket for supplies in Oxford. Pick up some great local products at the Oxford Farmers Market every Sunday morning. The Craft Market operates on the first Sunday of the month. Oxford has an Art Gallery with new exhibitions each month show casing New Zealand's Artists. There is also a museum. The mountain valleys and ridge lines offer opportunity to enjoy alpine and forest environments for those who love to hike or short bush and village walks are close by for those who prefer a leisurely amble. See the Department of Conservation website for walking tracks in the area. Explore Castle Hill & Lake Lyndon (about 40 minutes away). Porters ski area is approx 45 mins away and Mt Hutt is about 1 hr 15 mins away. Try out canyoning at Glentui. Waimakariri Golf Course is less than 10 mins away.
