Only one hour’s drive north of Wellington City, The Chef’s Cottage is located in the secluded natural rural setting of Reikorangi. Offering a standalone 70m2 cottage, our deluxe accomodation is perfect for those wanting to escape the hustle bustle of life, take a break and breathe. We’re called the Chef’s Cottage for a reason and our luxury accommodation is perfect for special occasion getaways. Hosted by local award winning Chef Steve Morris, there’s bespoke “wine and dine” dinner packages on offer, just give us a call prior to your visit so we can design a menu to suit. These packages are exclusively designed for you and do incur additional charges depending on your requirements. Our fully enclosed and private property is set on approximately 4 acres of land available to guests to freely explore and offers gardens, trees, picnic areas. There's our friendly dog Ralphy and two cats (Possum and Mia) always roaming around who love visitors! There’s an abundance of native birdlife to enjoy, fruit and vegetables growing including raspberries in the Summer! If you are into walking or cycling, our location offers several fantastic hiking tracks ranging from easy to complex. Even a stroll along our local road in the morning is enough to awaken the senses as you take in natural views of surrounding mountains. There’s something quite special about sitting on the private terrace in your spa pool after a day of exploring to completely unwind. We are only 10 minutes drive to Waikanae Railway Station that will connect you directly to Wellington City and Sky Stadium. The train ride to Wellington is approximately 1 hour and there’s plenty of free parking on offer. Waikanae and Paraparaumu are super close and offer great shopping and restaurant options not to mention a gorgeous beach with connections to Kapiti Island and Nga Manu Wild Bird Reserve.

Years of working in fine dining and elite hospitality has inspired me to offer a luxury catered accommodation experience at my own property set on beautiful private grounds in Reikorangi, in the Kapiti region just a short distance from Waikanae. I’ve had an incredible career as an award-winning chef here in New Zealand that has seen me cooking for Queen Elizabeth and numerous celebrities at Huka Lodge, winning multiple awards and representing New Zealand as an ambassador to our produce and cuisine. Cooking and the enjoyment of sharing great food has always been my passion. We are located in a character rural area and surrounded by animals and birds. Expect you will hear animal noises, and plenty of bird song. The weather can differ to Wellington central (although only one hour away) with low temperatures, rain and occasional snow flurries in the Winter, and very hot temperatures during Summer. It's recommended to take full advantage of exploring this area you bring good walking/hiking shoes, gumboots, raincoat and hat with warm layers to wear as needed during the Winter, with the addition of sun-hats and sunscreen for Summer. Great care in driving is respectfully requested in our rural community.
