🏥 History of the STREFA ZEN Building The STREFA ZEN building at 26 Jagiellońska Street in Cieplice (now part of Jelenia Góra) has a fascinating history. Built in 1864 with community support, it originally served as a military hospital. Later, it was managed by the St. Hedwig Foundation and housed Franciscan nuns. After World War II, it became a general hospital under state administration. The hospital closed in 1997, and after years of abandonment, it was renovated by a private owner. Today, part of the building is used as the Cieplice Senior Residence. A charming statue of St. Hedwig stands at the main entrance, honoring the foundation that cared for the hospital over a century ago.
