A Quinta da Colina is a traditional central Portuguese country house, completely renovated, maintaining all its original charm and characteristic architectural details, with all modern amenities inside the house, and the refreshing and sunny swimming pool in the spacious courtyard. We have two accommodation units (listed separately) available for our guests, Adega da Casa da Quinta for two people and Casinha da Quinta for four people. These can be rented together or separately. The landscape around is stunning, with miles of walking and biking trails, secluded river beaches for picnics and many ancient castles and ruins to catch up on local history. This is a large comfortable house for 4 people, where you will find a traditional patio and private garden overlooking the olive grove and surrounding hills, a living room, a dining room, two bathrooms and a modern, fully equipped kitchen. The bedrooms with adjoining bathrooms are bright and comfortable. Guests can enjoy dining alfresco in the courtyard by the pool or view the endless countryside from the pool deck or the private garden on the other side of the house. Bemvindos/Welcome to A Quinta da Colina. We both come from New Zealand and have lived in this part of Portugal for 5 years and we love sharing it with visitors. We are open only for the four months of summer when the beauty and charm of the region can be best enjoyed. We live on the premises too and we are available for supplying any kind of information and solving any problems that arise. And maybe to share a glass of wine! Make yourselves at home.

Castanheira de Pera offers much more than just the renowned Praia das Rocas. We are surrounded by some of the loveliest river beaches in the country plus enchanting mountain trips to the shist villages. Within ten minutes you will find good shopping in supermarkets and local produce markets. There are quaint little restaurants serving hearty local food and charming little bars to mix with the locals. The historic city of Coimbra is only 40 minutes away and an interesting day trip over the mountains brings you to the lovely town of Lousa. Your cottage overlooks the heart of central Portugal, don't miss it!
