Company information

Having bought my first cottage in 2002 as a holiday project I fell in love with the area and moved here from the UK in 2003. I learnt Portuguese and now speak fluently. I have added another 3 holiday cottages in this area to my portfolio of self-catering rentals all restored to a comfortable standard with modern appliances and technology. Although I am not in Arganil I live only 20 minutes away and am available if there are any problems. If you have any questions during your stay I am always available by phone.

Property information

The old farmhouse, Casa de Alagoa, is in the quiet countryside on the edge of the village of Alagoa, less than 2kms from Arganil. It has been converted into a house and cottage retaining many original features where possible with the stone walls and the wood beams and ceilings. There is an above ground 3m diameter splash pool for the exclusive use of guests staying in Casa de Alagoa but this is not available to guests staying in Casa Rustica. Casa de Alagoa is the main farmhouse with 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. The garden has a 3m splash pool and outside dining furniture, a BBQ, chairs and parasol. Casa Rustica is the cottage and has 2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom and a private garden with small BBQ, there is no access to the pool in Casa de Alagoa`s garden unless both houses are booked together for the same group. Both properties have separate private entrances and separate private gardens with pretty views across the surrounding countryside.. Casa de Alagoa has a with a wood burner for the winter months and Casa Rustica has an open fire with 1 free basket of logs , both have electric radiators in the bedrooms in the winter. Because of the pandemia towels are not included this year

Neighbourhood information

Arganil is the main town approximately 7kms from the cottage and has all the shops, restaurants, cafes etc that you need. There are other local towns with weekly markets where you can buy fresh produce and the excellent local sheep cheese from the Serra de Estrela which is the highest mountain range in Portugal with snow in the winter months of Decdember, Jnuary and February. It can be T-shirt weather in Arganil and you can ski on the Serra de Estrela! The river beach at Sarzedo is 2kms from the house where you can hire canoes and pedaloes in the summer and ther are lots of other pools and river beaches to discover along the Rio Alva and the Ceira.
