The house of FONTE SANTA, is located at the top of Quinta da Fonte Santa, which will have assumed this name because it is in place of "Fonte Santa", on the slope of Vila Nova de Gaia, having entrance at the top of Rua do Choupelo, 868. This historic street, which in the 19th century served the flow of agricultural production from the farms of Vila Nova to the Douro River, is currently the access route to the renowned Yetman Hotel and the newly opened WOW – World of Wine cultural space! Through this street, which skirts farms and warehouses of secular wines, passing by the Church of Santa Marinha - once a small Romanesque hermitage, rebuilt in 1745 with a trace of Nicolau Nasoni - we reached the marginal of the Douro River. The most remote information attributes in 1875 his belonging to José Veloso da Cruz, brother of Councillor Joaquim Veloso da Cruz. It became in the second half of the twentieth century the family home of Frederico Veloso da Cruz van-Zeller grandfather of the current generation of owners. Recently, great improvement works, gave rise to FONTE SANTA - Manor House, an accommodation with history, aimed at all those interested in visiting Vila Nova de Gaia and Porto!

FONTE SANTA Manor House is located at Rua do Choupelo, 868, on the edge of the historic center, 550m from the Municipality of Gaia and its station of the yellow line of the Porto Metro! Down this street, which skirts farms and department stores of secular wines, you will find the WOW – World of Wine modern cultural space with seven themed museums, shops and exhibitions, with a diversity of terraces and restaurants in one of the best locations over Porto! Before arriving at the riverside we recommend visiting the church of Santa Marinha - once a small Romanesque hermitage, rebuilt in 1745 with a trace of Nicolau Nasoni. Hovering over the Douro River you will find the "Rabelo" boats, representing each of the brands of Port Wine and along the avenue you will find some of their cellars, do not miss the visit to at least one of them! Also be sure to visit the typical Beira-Rio Market. The market now offers the freshness of other times, through fresh and made meals: restaurants, snack bars, ice cream parses, fruits and wines. A little further on you will find the great Corpus Christi Convent, founded in 1345! For its richness and artistic value it is strongly recommended to visit the chapel and the high Choir Room! In front of the said convent you can take the Gaia Cable Car, which will give you a suspended perspective on Porto and Gaia, climbing up to the Morro Garden! The view of the Morro Garden is fantastic and even more so if you climb to the entrance hall in the convent church of Serra do Pilar! The setting of the Douro River to Foz, with the Bridge of Luiz I at your feet is UNESCO's Heritage of Humanity!
