A HOME IN MADEIRA, LDA. is a home rental management company that was born from the will to share our experience in tourist accommodation and services related with property management. We were born in Madeira island, we like to travel and meet people, and it is a great pleasure to help travellers to discover our island.

The Kiwi House property includes the main house, Os Ferrerinhos, the house O Lagar do Avô, and the studio O Miminho, which can be used independently and can accommodate a total of 16 guests in the three accommodations. The main house was built in the 1930s and was more recently expanded and adapted for tourist accommodation, ensuring comfort conditions and sustainability principles in the management of energy, water and waste, but retaining several elements of authenticity of rural houses of the mid-twentieth century, namely furniture, windows, doors, floors and ceilings. The second building has a more modern construction but preserves in the living room an authentic wine press, which was used for decades by the family, and which today evokes the memory of the grandfather. The property has been in the family for three generations and has been a family home and a regular meeting place for grandparents, children and grandchildren, especially at Christmas. This property is in a rural environment that maintains traditional farming practices and has a wide view of the surrounding agricultural land and the mountains. O Miminho is a 30 m² studio with a double bed (1.6 x 2.0 m), a bathroom, a kitchenette and a terrace with barbecue facilities and views of the farmland and mountains. This accommodation is equipped with air conditioning, a washing machine, refrigerator, stove, microwave and kitchen utensils, as well as bed linen, towels, Wi-Fi, TV with international channels, and other amenities to ensure a pleasant and relaxing stay. A car is recommended to this location and free car park is available in the property or on the street. As it is a rural area, there is potential for noise caused by dogs and other domestic animals in neighbouring properties. There are also insects in the surroundings that can be attracted by food scraps. Cleaning is done before guests arrive and then a weekly maintenance cleaning is carried out, which includes changing bed linen and towels.

The property is located in a rural area surrounded by farmland, close to the centre of the village of São Jorge, in the northern part of the island of Madeira. A few kilometres away, there are impressive cliffs, mountains and Laurissilva forest for nature lovers and hikers, as well as other attractions. A recommended walking trail, ‘Levada do Rei’, begins about 1500 metres away. Within a radius of 1500 metres, you can find restaurants and cafés. There is a grocery store 950 metres away. The property has easy access to the main roads.
