The villa has a host, Nuno, who will be at your disposal to answer any question about the Accommodation, Oporto or the surrounding area. It has tourist programs available for all tastes and it makes personalized advice according to your expectations of visit. Having availability it can even get you to know Portugal on a personal tour. It is possible to leave the bags with your host, before check-in and after check-out, at times to be arranged.

Just half way between the beaches and historic center, Villa Santa Bárbara is a private property with two independent houses - Casa Maria and Casa António. It was once a typical conglomerate of houses that were called "ilha" . The houses are built with old masonry walls and its decoration is based on Portuguese tradition. The environment is very welcoming, romantic, and original. There is an open, very pleasant, unique green area with benches, chairs, swimming pool, fruit trees, an orchid greenhouse and an aromatic herb bed. It is an invitation to relax, ideal for yoga practice. In all the rooms you have high quality mattresses and bed sheets (Portuguese manufacture). The bathrooms have, as a free offer courtesy, shampoo, shower gel, soap and toilet paper in appropriate quantity to the first days of your stay. Replacement hygiene packs are available. Each guest will get high quality white towels, hand and bath, all Portuguese manufacture.

Villa Santa Bárbara has excellent location between the beaches and Oporto city. The famous Port wine cellars can be reached on foot. There is also public transportation nearby: a bus (100m from the villa) to the downtown area of Gaia and Oporto (Aliados Av.) or to the beach; and a train station, called “Gaia or Devesas”. It is the main station in Vila Nova de Gaia and is only a 10 minute walk from Villa Santa Bárbara. At Devesas there are trains to other cities, such as: Braga, Guimarães, Lisboa, Coimbra, Aveiro and so on. The place has the genuine Portuguese spirit. The name Villa Santa Barbara comes from the name of the street where it is located and is a tribute to the patron saint of the church which is on the same street. The church is beautifully decorated with Portuguese tiles and is worth a visit. In the neighborhood there are many facilities such as: a grocery store, a fruit shop, a pastry shop, a barber shop, a bakery, a coffee shop and a butcher’s. There are also restaurants, big markets and a shopping center: Gaia shopping, Aldi and Lidl.
