Villa Akacija is a new hotel located in the most beautiful part of the town . It is in the center of Zemun, only few minutes' walk from the two most famous landmarks of Zemun – Gardos and Zemun Quay. In the Ancient times , at the foot of the hill Gardos, there was roman settlement called Taurunum . A fortress, on the right bank of the river Danube, was built in the Middle Ages with the purpose to control the river traffic. Millennium Tower , one of the four towers , built by Hungarian authorities on the borders of their empire , is also at Gardos. This tower is more famous as the tower of Janos Hunaydi. Along 7 kilometers long Zemun quay there are dozens of restaurants , cafes, clubs , as well as the biggest casino in Balkan – "Grand Casino " . Opposite to the Zemun quay there is Great War Island , the last oasis of the untouched nature , whit its famous beach Lido.
