The Delano Homestead was in FDR's family for nearly 120 years. It was built by his great-grandfather, owned by his grandfather, his mother was born here and lived here for a time as an adult. Franklin spent hundreds of days here as a child, young man and visited as president. The house is an example of transitional Federal to Greek Revival Architecture. It has a spacious yards, a green house, and is surrounded by a granite stone wall. It is within a block of the town hall, town library, Unitarian and Methodist Churches. We are within a few blocks of the harbor, shopping, restaurants, park, tennis courts, bike path and more. We are within a few miles of the beach, zoo, whaling museum, marinas, charter boats, town landing, ferries to the islands and more restaurants. We are within a half-hour of Cape Cod, Newport, Providence, Horseneck Beach State Park. We are an hour from Boston (without traffic).
