Sage Cottage is in the heart of the Bitterroot Valley, close to hiking and biking trails and a scenic drive. It is less than 10 miles from the Bitterroot River. Our garden has over 38 bird species that guests are welcome to enjoy. When you book with us for short- or long-term stays, utility costs like electricity, garbage, and Wi-Fi are all included. Bill and I steam clean, sanitize, and polish all surfaces between each stay. We are proud of our sparkling-clean rating. The kitchen is equipped wit dishes, silverware, and utensils, as well as an electric stove/oven, a full-size refrigerator, an instant pot, a microwave, a coffee maker, an espresso machine, a coffee grinder, a toaster, cookbooks, and pantry supplies. It is tiled with an Italian ceramic backsplash. We have hand-blown glass drawer pulls (blown by Bill in our blown glass studio) on the cabinetry and a touch of our art throughout the Cottage. When building this Cottage, we had fun adding our artwork to it. A washer and dryer with complimentary natural laundry soap are just off the kitchen. The bedroom is warm and inviting, with a comfortable queen-sized bed and bedding, latté colored walls, espresso lamps, and chocolate blackout curtains. Along with the 40" smart TV, it has a writing desk equipped with writing paper, Sage Cottage postcards, coloring pages for the young and young at heart, and colored pencils. The living room has a futon that folds into a queen-size bed for extra guests. The dining room table feat tall chairs so you ca see the windows better and enjoy the views. A smart TV on the wall between the living room and kitchen swivels to be watched from either the living room or the kitchen. The full-size bath comes with complimentary soaps and shampoos. It includes an inviting tub with pebbled beach tile on the floor, Tuscan-type tiles on the walls, and a lighted makeup mirror. A linen closet in the bath supplies extra towels and linens. My husband, Bill, and I are full-time artists. Although our house is nearby, we respect our guests' privacy. We work out several buildings on our property and are happy to give tours to our guests upon request. We incorporated glass art into the cottage by making all the blown glass drawer pulls. We have collected several art pieces for the cottage, including an antique rosewood writing desk in the bedroom. The cottage has been our biggest art project. Bill and Rae Grout, the artists behind Aspen Hot Glass, left their scientific careers to pursue their passion. Bill, a former avionics technician, began working with glass in Montana in 1993. Rae, inspired by Bill's journey, joined him in 2002. Together, they create a variety of glass art, including pixie orbs, collector marbles, and cabinet knobs, alongside Steampunk journals and wire-woven art pieces. Rae is the author and illustrator of the Punk Shop Dragon book series, inspired by a dragon she drew for their company logo, Harmony, who helps them blow their glass. They tell their customers that each piece of glass is blown with love and Harmony.

Sage Cottage is on our small farm in the heart of the Bitterroot Valley. Parts of the show Yellowstone were filmed in this area, and some of the cast and crew stayed in our cottage. The property is on part of Bill's mother's 250-acre ranch, now divided into parcels. Sage Cottage is on our property, which is about 2.5 acres. We have several gardens, and the cottage is in our small orchard. When in season, guests are welcome to enjoy fruits from our tree. Guests can watch the sunrise on the front deck with a view of the Sapphire Mountains and the sunset from the hot tub or privacy yard with a view of the Bitterroot Mountains.
