Aloe Cottage is a cozy house with an antique feel to it. Believed to have started out as an ostrich feather storeroom in the 1900's, it was converted over time into the present house boasting beautiful wooden floors and lots of character. As you enter the central living area, you are immediately aware of the charm. All other rooms lead directly from this living room, giving a sociable feel. One bedroom has a large double bed; the other has two single beds which can be joined to make up a king-sized bed. The outside stoep (verandah) with braai area (barbecue area) overlooks the pretty garden. Aloe Cottage is in easy walking distance from the town center and amenities. As it's in a bustling pedestrian area, please do expect some pedestrian noise occasionally, particularly during the week. To mitigate this somewhat, the house and stoep do not face onto the street, but rather onto the garden.

Montagu is a dorp (small town) on the banks of a river, surrounded by the Langeberg mountains. You can walk from Aloe Cottage to see all the town has to offer. There are historic and art places to visit; for the bookworms there are secondhand bookstores; for the more adventurous there are hiking routes, a nature garden to meander, and sport climbing just outside Montagu. There are restaurants and a village market on Saturdays to fill your appetite. You can have a day out visiting the hot springs and guano caves, treat yourself to a tractor ride on the fruit farms outside Montagu, or enjoy a wine-tasting tour of the nearby wine farms. The local tourist information center has all the details.
