This beloved property was established to accommodate larger groups of guests who would appreciate staying in a homely, colourful yet comfortable home. It is positioned and designed to maximize the lagoon views as well as creating a private retreat at the secluded north facing pool terrace. Careful planning resulted in each bedroom offering privacy, yet opens up to lagoon views or the organic garden. The GROUND FLOOR: A double garage with direct access into the entrance hall. One calming, spacious en suite bedroom and one bedroom with a kitchenette, dining area and separate bathroom creates a peaceful wing with soothing garden views and a shared garden terrace. Linked to the house via the entrance hall via the internal staircase. This area could be used as a separate self contained unit with its own walkway and entrance. UPSTAIRS: Access is via the internal staircase or wheelchair friendly walkway next to the garage, past the pool terrace. Enters into the 96m2 open plan area with lounge, dining, kitchen, scullery and sun room. Marvelous lagoon views unfolds from covered veranda. A sunny garden/pool terrace to the north. The spacious main bedroom, with en suite bathroom, lagoon view and private garden is in the eastern wing while the western wing consists of two en suite bedrooms, one with lagoon views from the balcony and the other with a deck and seating area which overlooks and connects with the pool terrace. The interior of the property is eclectic. The culmination of the owners collecting and combining vintage finds with modern pieces, resulting in this colourful, comfortable "lived in" space where relaxing is key. Many art works are from local artists and craftspeople. A water filtration system is linked to the incoming water source which is either municipal or roof harvested rain water. The organic garden, with stone walls, features many fruit trees, herbs, pollinator and indigenous plants to attract birds, bees, butterflies and our famous small geckos.
We are an active, healthy and friendly couple who have been living in Knysna for 40 years – we consider ourselves vibrant and mature Knysna locals. With a strong interest in food, nature and culture, we are happy to give you all the recommendations you need to have an amazing holiday and see all that Knysna (and the greater Garden Route area) has to offer. Westhill is a safe and quiet suburb located above the main hustle and bustle of Central Knysna. With amazing panoramic views of the lagoon and the heads, as well as town and the waterfront, Westhill allows for private and peaceful living with close access to all main amenities in Knysna. The main shopping center is a 5 min walk away, which has a SPAR, Woolworths, Checkers, bottle store, pharmacy and plenty of interesting shops and national chain stores. The Waterfront which is a stone throw away (10 min drive) has a large range of local products and offers an exceptional shopping experience – and is also the heart of all sunset cruises and water based lagoon expeditions. Thesen Islands is a must visit for restaurants, clothing boutiques, jewellery and decor shops. Town central is an easy, down hill, 500m walk to super markets and shops, Waterfront 1.5km and Thesen Islands 2,5km. Walking back is up a fair hill to get the elevation to enjoy the marvelous lagoon views. The 6km lagoon to white bridge boardwalk starts two blocks away from the main road. The many hills in the area provides excellent fitness training opportunities. You couldn’t be more centrally located to the best that Knysna is able to provide. With fast and direct access to the main road, you can easily head off for a swim at Buffalo Bay (20min Drive) or to grab one of the best croissants ever in Plettenberg Bay (30 min Drive). An excellent position to explore the Klein Karoo across the Outeniqua mountain pass via George (1 h 30m) from or the iconic Tsitsikamma River Mouth with a hanging bridge and restaurant (1 h 30m) Another highlight is the Saturday morning market at Sedgefield for a truly authentic experience of local food and fresh produce as well as locally manufactured gifts and decor. The Harkerville market, towards Plettenberg Bay, is also the start of the 5km Park run/walk. A personal favourite activity. Many adventure driven activities like bungy jumping, tree top trails are close by
