I am a passionate Joburger; I love the city I live in, for me Johannesburg is an exciting city, it is a melting pot of cultures form all over Africa and the world. We have a food culture that encompasses Africa and the world, from Ethiopian street food to fine dining, French, Portuguese, German, Greek, Italian, Indian, Chinese, Thai, Township Taverns to mention but a few. We are culturally blessed with art galleries, museums, craft markets, music, and the best jazz club on the continent The Orbit in Braamfontein. You can tour Soweto on a bicycle, do a walking tour of historic Johannesburg. There is always so much to do. If you wold like to venture 2 hours out of Johannesburg for the day you can visit, Sun City Resort and the Pilandesberg National Park, where you are sure to see wild life.

The tranquil tree-lined suburb of Houghton Estate is adjacent to Rosebank which is the cosmopolitan centre of the city with a myriad of restaurants, shopping areas, craft markets, gyms and entertainment. The area is also central to Sandton and Melrose Arch in the north and the city to the south, with easy access to the M1 Motorway Houghton Place is 11 minutes’ walk from Rosebank and the Gautrain (the underground) that links the suburb to Sandton and the Airport. In addition there are multiple reliable taxi services available including UBER. For the golfers the Killarney Country Club is just a 2 minute drive for Houghton Place. Houghton Estate is one of the older more established suburbs of Johannesburg; it was developed as a residential area around the turn of the 20th century. Historically a wealthy area, it contains many mansions on big stands, the suburb is currently experiencing rapid redevelopment, with many plots being subdivided to make way for cluster homes and office parks. The most famous resident of Houghton Estate was the late Nelson Mandela.
