Company information

The stand was originally bought by Mr EA Nel, late father of one of the owners of The Orion Guest house. He was a builder/property developer for years in the Greater Middelburg district. After his sudden death in 2006 his youngest son, Lourens Nel and his wife Jackoline bought the stand. Lourens, being a teacher by profession always loves doing things himself thus he personally designed en build the house for this family. He has three daughters who stayed with him for four years. When the young fledglings started to leave one after the other to marry their sweethearts and to start their own business doings, Lourens having a background of growing up in Paarl, absolutely loves the company of people, convinced Jackoline to convert their home into a home for people around the world. We opened our doors the 1st May 2009 and called the place The Orion after the star constellation “The Three Sisters”. This is then symbolic to our own Three Daughters being “Three Sisters. Each of the 11 rooms has the name of a specific star in our galaxy. Our hope was to instil a tranquil environment teeming with birds and peace. A little bit of Antique, and a little bit of Africa. Now under new ownership of Tony Maia & Claudio Maia.

Our secure and spacious rooms all have private access to the apartments with Showers, Air-conditioning, Tea/Coffee Station, Hairdryers, Television (Netflix & Streaming). Each room has a mini fridge. Wireless Internet available in all rooms. Facilities “The Orion” – is a guesthouse with a difference where you feel at home. Here you’ll find comfort, security and luxury all in one. Your host Johanna will be at your service to attend to all your needs. The Orion is situated next to Middelburg Mall, restaurants, take-away shops, garage, Cinema, Casino, Country Club/ Golf course and a fitness centre for the fitness fanatics. Within easy access of the N4 highway.
