Our room was beautifully furnished, light and airy, with very comfortable bed, shower and bathroom, tea and coffee making facilities with lovely large decorative cups, fresh ground coffee with cafetière too - fantastic! The bar and restaurant was cosy and was decorated with very interesting pictures and books. They served local ales and very delicious, top notch food. The hosts were great, very welcoming and friendly, interesting and knowledgeable. We just loved them to bits.

I had dinner here and you know when you really suddenly find a place and absolutely love it but you wonder what it's gonna be like to actually stay there... it was amazing. The rooms and the detail of the historic restoration make it so cozy but it's so friendly. It's chic but not stuffy or pretentious. That's what makes it wonderful. Not just friendly to people but really dog friendly. So you're there in the most stunning setting. It's like being in heaven- you're in wild and wooly, romantic Exmoor where you can sit out on the terrace perched high above a stream and look out. Or go out and walk in the countryside. It's secluded but conveniently located to be able to go down to Exeter or up somewhere else onto the coast. It's just perfect and the restaurant is fantastic and well worth the detour to just to go to the restaurant. I can't wait to come back again and most guests come back year after year...

The owners, the staff, the locals and the setting really make this place. The garden is really nice and the building itself is in really good shape and has a lot of interesting historical features to take in. We were leaving very early for a motorbike course and a delicious lunch was prepared for us to take with us as we were missing breakfast that morning. We did get to try the breakfast the next day and can confirm it was delicious and made using proper sausages and locally sourced eggs etc. There was a free live band provided on the Sat night and they were excellent. We really enjoyed our stay.

Room lovely and spacious with private bathroom. Decor was light and bright. Staff very accommodating. Pub very nice recommend eating here as food fantastic including breakfast. Had one off the best sleeps ever would highly recommend this place to stay wether you stay in the main building . Holiday bungalows or the campsite
