The Ancient Briton was one of the best B&Bs we stayed at during our 2.5-week trip through the UK. The staff, rooms, food, and overall atmosphere exceeded our expectations. The building is old but tastefully refurbished. While some stairways are narrow and dim (a bit of a challenge with luggage), the rooms were comfortable, well-equipped, and even featured unique plaster ceiling designs that gave them real character. The staff was outstanding. The woman who managed breakfast each morning (I wish I remembered her name) was especially wonderful—warm, attentive, and full of local tips. Thanks to her, we discovered the Red Kite Feeding Station in Llanddeusant, which turned out to be a highlight of our trip. The pub downstairs is lively and welcoming, with excellent food and a friendly mix of locals. It does get busy in the evenings, but even as a party of six, we were always accommodated.

The breakfast is very good and if you want, you can also order an excellent dinner at the hotel restaurant. Pattra is charming, answers every question politely and helps in everything she can. The staff is welcoming and the atmosphere is warm and pleasant. We would wholeheartedly recommend Castle Cottage Inn.
