Set in a Grade II listed Tudor building, The Old Crown serves traditional ales. An English menu is served in the restaurant. Just 200 metres away are The Custard Factory’s trendy independent shops, bars, restaurants and galleries. It was a good price for the location, about 15 minute walk to the centre. The man who checked me in was wonderful, carried my bag up the stairs, explained everything well and was friendly. It was pretty cool staying in a place older than my own country.

The Moseley Arms in Birmingham offers bed and breakfast accommodation, an 8-minute walk from Bordesley Train Station. The pub is within a short distance of many city landmarks, 5 minutes’ drive from the centre and 20 minutes from the NEC concert and exhibition centre. Staff were really nice and helpful and room was nice and comfortable. I would say it’s much more than an 8 mins walk to the city centre though which is what booking.com state. Also the property is located within the clean air zone which we were unaware of and this cost us an extra £28 for an overnight stay, obviously not the pub’s fault though and overall we enjoyed our stay.

Just a 15-minute walk from the National Indoor Arena and the ICC, Comfort Inn Birmingham City Centre is a 20-minute drive from the NEC. There are public car parks available nearby. The room was bigger than we expected, the shower was lush and powerful, and the bed was amazingly comfortable and clean. Just what was needed after a long day of travel.

The staff were very friendly (especially the wonderful lady who worked in the kitchen). The hotel has its own bar and parking, which was a plus. All in all, a very nice place to stay.
