Really appreciate the thoughtfulness put into the meal preparation by the staff. Hoshi san was also helpful in assisting us with renting the necessary snowboarding equipment, and ferrying us to and from the ski resort via the inn’s shuttle bus.

Incredibly close to the Ishiuchi Marayama Ski Resort. A drying room for skiing clothing and a space for the equipment. Shared kitchen with a microwave, a small fridge and hot water. Japanese style building.
This is a very convenient location for those coming and going by train. Well located to walk to most of the inner city locations near the station. Staff were very friendly and the breakfast service and options were exceptional.
The room we were in was extremely spacious and we were also the only ones on level so whilst we had to share toilet/bathroom facilities, there was no need to actually share with other guests. The hosts were super lovely and easy to communicate with. They prepared really delightful meals for our dinner and breakfast that my parents really enjoyed.
Very friendly and helpful host. The House is a bit old and ‘used’, but has some charm anyway. It seems as if the small village/gathering of a few houses/old closed restaurants is abandoned, but the guest House works fine as a base for hiking and alike.
Ryosou Minatosou is a traditional family-run inn next to the Naoetsu ferry port. Very conveniently located for anyone planning to hop on the 07:10h ferry to Sado. I’d recommend booking meals because there aren’t many food options nearby, especially in the evening. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, and the staff is very attentive and friendly.
Yukinohana is a really nice Ryokan. It has some yukata that you can wear around the hotel, and also has 3 nice private onsen that you don't need to pay extra for or book in advance, so if you have tattoos, you can still bathe! It also has really clean, comfy rooms, and some free ice cream in the afternoons, plus free half-sized ramen in the evenings! It also has a delicious traditional Japanese breakfast. My friend and I spent our entire stay in the hotel, other than briefly going out for dinner.
I had a very nice and spacious room with both internal and external bathtubs. The dinner was excellent, and the breakfast was very good (Japanese style). The staff was nice, and the environment was quiet. It was a nice experience.
Beautiful view from room; earlier checkin than most places; very good japanese style dinner & breakfast; friendly host with some English spoken
The hotel itself was really nice for what you're paying for. The location is unbeatable since its literally across the street from Niigata Station. The included breakfast buffet at DINNING EDIT ECHIGO was great, had a wide variety of options, and included several local dishes for guests to enjoy.
Well-positioned, spacious guest house run by lovely helpful family. Good size family room. Kitchen facilities ok though missing some essentials such as a can opener. Do be prepared that really the only place serving fresh meal is 15 minutes walk and closes at 5.30pm sharp - we got caught out twice and had to have pot noodle and chocolate dinner. Bonus facilitates such as table tennis table. Ski equipment rented was good, and skiing in mid-April still amazing. Easy to order taxi too.
