O2 Arena

Like an alien ship that’s plonked itself on the banks of the Thames, the striking form of the O2 is unique. A giant marquee, it’s seen Coldplay, Pink Floyd, Madonna and many others take to the stage, while the IMAX’s giant cinema screen roars over audiences. Braver visitors can don a harness and scale the dome’s heights – the views over East London are well worth the climb.

Huh! I had my ticket (printed) and an email confirmation.

Huh! I had my ticket (printed) and an email confirmation. But was then told by a member of staff I needed the 'app' and I couldn't go in without loading the 'app' on to my phone. And, of course, there was no signal. So I had to be walked to the ticket office where another ticket was printed. Unnecessary stress and waste of time. Inside, I was there to watch the Harlem Globetrotters basketball team who do a lot of their work at floor level. I was in the fourth or fifth row on the flat floor, so was unable to see anything much except the backs of people's heads. Rubbish organisation. Quite a few other people complained for the same reason and had to be moved to where they could see what was going on. I missed most of the first half as I had to go out of the auditorium to get a different ticket. Poor organisation. I felt they had tried to cram in too many people. I would not recommend,

Had sendoff for a concert where we were told "everyone will have an equal opportunity with the artist". Proceeded to cram us all into a narrow corridor one one side, creating 5 rows of people and hardly any room to move. I heard a lady express to staff that it wasn't safe and as she did so, someone nearly fell over next to them basically proving her point, but staff just made excuses and did nothing. People at the back couldn't even SEE the artist, let alone speak with them or get things signed. So much for "equal opportunity". Very frustrating to put your trust in the venue and staff, do everything they say and follow their rules, and not feel respected in return. The crazy thing is they hosted a successful send off event in January using a system where people were on both sides of the artist (like a tunnel system) and that worked well, so I'm not sure why they decided to do it so poorly for this event. Absolutely wasted my money getting VIP - I think the O2 misunderstand what VIP means because it was a very poor experience.

Incredibly expensive, as is the norm for large gig venues, and the queueing arrangements are quite poor. You're effectively having to snake your way around the behind-scenes areas used for access by the restaurants and bars, so you're stood by a load of wheelie bins for the majority of it. Sound quality inside the venue was also far from the best I've experienced.

We did the O2 climb over the dome it was amazing the story about the Arena is interesting it has 12 poles to hold it up for each month of the year, it has 365 metres for every day of the year & it's 52 metres high for weeks in the year. When you climb over it than you have walked about the Star's that performed in it... Just one of our highlights while visiting England..

Getting to the O2 Arena was a breeze.

Getting to the O2 Arena was a breeze. The trip up the Thames was lovely in the sunset. However, I went to a concert in the early evening and found it very difficult to get home in the late evening. A ferry was available but once back in the city, public transport was non-operational and taxis were the only choice.

Location was fab. Easy to get around the city from the nearby tube station. Loads of places to eat and drink in the O2 arena. Check in was easy, we arrived early but our room was ready and we were able to access this straight away. Reception staff were very helpful. Tasty and well cooked breakfast, pricey but well worth the money as the selection was extensive - can get busy but we avoided the busy periods. Having access from the hotel to the O2 arena was a big plus. Nice complimentary toiletries in the bathroom. We will defo return.
