This is an exceptional accommodation option in Ella! Not only it has nice & clean room, excellent view but the owner is the person who’d make your stay! willing to help with everything, pick you up or drive within Ella in his tuktuk or even wake up in the morning with you to drive you to Little Adam’s peak for sunrise. And icing on the cake is the huge breakfast served right at your patio full of fresh fruits, local meals and hot coffee. We weren’t even able to finish it all :( Even though the accommodation is located a little bit further from Ella’s main street, thanks to the owner’s perfect care we didn’t even noticed. Thank you and hope to come back soon! 💚

It’s beautiful and neat. The food was delicious.The location is situated close to a few activities like Little Adam’s Peak, Ravana Club and the zip line. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. They even decorated our bed and made a special cake for our anniversary. They go the extra mile. Really an amazing place, highly recommended!

I recently had the pleasure of staying at Hotel Moon Rock, and I must say, it was an absolute delight! The host was incredibly friendly and welcoming, making us feel right at home from the moment we arrived. But what truly impressed me was the host's thoughtfulness and attention to detail. We had an early start the next day for a long journey to Colombo, and the host kindly prepared breakfast for us ahead of schedule. But that wasn't all - they also packed a snack and water for us to take on the road! This kind gesture was completely unexpected and truly appreciated. It's clear that the host genuinely cares about their guests' comfort and well-being. The hotel itself was clean, comfortable, and well-maintained, with all the necessary amenities. But it's the host's exceptional hospitality and thoughtful touches that truly set Hotel Moon Rock apart. If you're looking for a warm and welcoming place to stay, I highly recommend Hotel Moon Rock!

The property is beautiful, very comfortable, full of plants, mountain view just in front of our room. Breakfast was delicious and abundant. It’s a long way up from town, but there’s a shortcut walk through the train rails.

Great views best to go to the bar above it some amazing views also easy to get train from Ella till the next station which goes over the bridge we managed to get photos & video hanging outside the door which looked unreal!!!

Beautiful, but long walk down and up if you are not 100% fit...

Beautiful, but long walk down and up if you are not 100% fit or a bit older. Tip - get a Tuk Tuk up from where the stairs stop. It’s a premium price but worth it. It’s muddy and slippery if it’s been raining, so don’t risk your ankles or knees.

The rickshaws shouldn’t charge more than 500rs one way. They stop at a point beyond which it’s a steep descent on stairs and some narrow but safe enough pathways that lead to the bridge. Therefore the walk back is also a steep incline. There are monkeys who mind their business. Or you can choose to walk the entirety of it. It took us 1 hour to go and come back with ampke breaks and a slow pace. My 60+ year old parents with above average to good fitness levels could do it.

Fairly strenuous walk down to the bridge, which in it's self is a wonderful feat of British engineering and Sri Lankan effort!. However, our anticipation was dampened by the sheer volume of other tourists on the bridge (at least 1000) all waiting and jostling for the best spot to get a photo of the anticipated train. There are far more beautiful and less touristy things to see and do in Sri Lanka than this.

For me 100/100.

For me 100/100. Beautiful bridge, fabulous views all around, the road to the viaduct itself leads through a fabulously green forest. Some trains stop on the viaduct, so there is time for a photo session:-))) It is also nice to have a coffee (or Ceylon TEA!!!) in one of the cafes by the viaduct, watching the trains passing by and the wonderful views of the area.

Best to go for early morning train times as there are less...

Best to go for early morning train times as there are less people. We went in the afternoon and it was still wonderful. You can walk around 3kms (quite steep though in parts) or you can take a tuk tuk for around 3000 LKR (and they wait for you to return to Ella).
