⭐️ Hotel Review – Dosso Dossi Hotels Old City, Istanbul I recently stayed at Dosso Dossi Hotels Old City during my visit to Istanbul, and overall it was a very enjoyable experience. 📍 Location – Excellent (⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️) The hotel is in a prime location right in the historic Sultanahmet district, just a short walk from major landmarks like the Hagia Sophia, Blue Mosque, Topkapi Palace, and the Grand Bazaar. Everything is easily accessible on foot, and the nearby tram station makes getting around the city simple and convenient. 🏨 Rooms – Comfortable but Mixed (⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️) The rooms are generally clean and well equipped with air conditioning, free Wi-Fi, TV, and a minibar. Some rooms, however, feel a bit small and may lack natural light depending on their position. A few guests mentioned bathrooms being a bit dated or compact, but for the price and central location they’re fine. 👨‍💼 Staff & Service – Friendly & Helpful (⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️) The staff were consistently praised for being warm, professional, and ready to assist with check-in, sightseeing tips, and airport transfers. Many reviews noted excellent service and genuine hospitality. 🍽 Breakfast & Facilities – Very Good (⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️) Breakfast buffet offers a good variety of Turkish and continental options and is included in many rates. The hotel also features a spa area with a hammam, sauna, and steam room, which is perfect for relaxing after a day exploring the city.

Hagia Sophia

In 537 AD, Hagia Sophia began life as a church, before becoming an Ottoman mosque in 1453. The largest cathedral in the world for almost a thousand years, this majestic building is considered one of the finest surviving examples of Byzantine architecture. Today, you can go inside and explore both the colossal structure as well as its museum.

Not worth the money to go! Very dissapointing.

Not worth the money to go! Very dissapointing. Also they try to swindle you & upsell on the ticket price from €25 to €50, so you end up paying double for a less than mediocre experience. Avoid at all cost.

Very old and full of history it has had many different lives & purposes over the centuries. Some of the paintings on the walls are still visible & tell a story. Did a guided tour and it was definitely worth it.

Queues, Queues and more queues. But worth it. Do not bother with the AR experience which costs an extra 1250 TL (£25) each. The entrance is roughly £25 to get in if you buy it at the ticket office, make sure you ask for the basic tour otherwise they include the AR experience as a default. Amazing mosaics and beautiful architecture.

This greekorthodox monument, one of the greatest for the christianity worldwide, is questionably managed by the modern Turkish state, after it was recently converted to a mosque (since there are so many of them, I really wonder why) The entrance for the tourists is allowed only at the 2nd floor, missing that way, an amazing perspective of this exceptional temple, that you can have only from the ground floor. You simply get half the pleasure! At least, you can have a glance of the unique mosaics covered by white pieces of cloth, due to religious restrictions. Anyway, don't miss it!

Sadly tourists can only go around the upper level.

Sadly tourists can only go around the upper level. Previously you could get in on the ground floor and experience the wonderful open space of the huge dome above you. It is still possible to see some of the dome and the structure is very interesting but a slight disappointment. However , it is an amazing old structure. Small number of mosaics still visible. Better and more extensive mosaics at the Kariye Camii if mosaics are of interest.

This was the most incredible part of Istanbul.

This was the most incredible part of Istanbul. Again ensure proper attire or you have to pay for covering. The interplay of Christianity and the Muslim faith, and neither chose to desicrate the other. Just be aware that you will only be able to visit the upper section unless you're a practising muslim.

The hotel is very close to the main tourist attractions, Hagia Sophia and the Blue Mosque, which was very convenient. The breakfast was excellent, and above all, the staff were outstanding. This was my first experience where every staff member was professional, friendly, and genuinely helpful. Special thanks to the F&B team for making our breakfasts enjoyable, the Front Office team for assisting with luggage and arranging our airport taxi, and Housekeeping for ensuring everything was spotless.

This beautiful property is strategically located near many of the sites in Istanbul; and that is within walking distance to the Hagia Sophia, Blue Mosque and the Grand Bazaar. It was very easy to locate the different areas from the map provided by the hotel. The staff were extremely hospitable from the front desk to the servers. The Hotel Manager Hamza took care of all of our queries and provided well needed guidance from shopping and site seeing. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Hotel Nena was the perfect choice for our first stay in Istanbul. Located right in the heart of Sultanahmet, everything was just a short walk away — from the Blue Mosque to Hagia Sophia and Topkapi Palace. The room was cozy, the breakfast spread was excellent, and the staff were very accommodating. They even allowed us to store our luggage while we explored Cappadocia and Pamukkale for a few days. Overall, it’s a wonderful hotel for first-time visitors to Istanbul!
