The ryokan provides a hot spring bath and a housekeeping service. This place! I cannot describe how amazing the room with private onsen is. Super spacious and comfortable, with a stunning view to the mountains. Breakfast and dinner were delicious (buffet style), enough vegetarian options. There's a free drink bar available for the afternoon/evening hours as well. I didn't use the public bath because they don't allow visible tattoo's though.

Tokinenoyado Yunushi Ichijoh is situated in the Kamasaki Onsen district in Shiroishi, a 15-minute drive from Shiroishi Station and Shiroishi-Zao Station. The staff was so kind and service minded. The whole experience with dinner and breakfast was exceptional, especially the staff member whom served us with excellent English. Just the whole experience was quite wonderful.

Boasting natural hot spring baths, Hohoemino Kuyufu Tsuruya is located a 15-minute walk from JR Tendo Station, 50 km from Sendai. Free WiFi is available throughout the property, and free private parking is available on site. Beautiful property. The room was spacious! Even for Western standards. The private onsen was very nice. We did not try the public onsen. The staff were courteous and helpful. Although the staff had limited English proficiency, they all used a translation app to help with communication which was incredibly helpful.
Tsuchiyu Onsen, Fukushima
Sansuiso Tsuchiyu Spa provides a sauna and a hot spring bath, as well as air-conditioned accommodation in Fukushima, 24 km from Nihonmatsu Station. This ryokan features free private parking and free shuttle service. The accommodation offers a 24-hour front desk, a lift and luggage storage for guests. The pictures do not do the onsen at this ryokan justice. We arrived later than I had hoped because our car's navigation lead us in the wrong direction, but the staff never made us feel guilty and helped us to check in. Our room was Japanese style with a great view of the garden and the ravine the river flows into. My tween found the futons very comfy. They worked with our dietary restrictions to make a wonderful multi-course Japanese meal, though I admit, I think I still liked the tempura course best. My tween slept through breakfast, but I really liked the fruit smoothie, which was lighter than I expected. The onsen are amazing here. There is the very traditional looking bathes overlooking a waterfall as well as two other floors of onsen, some of which rotate between men and women. Most of the onsen are also quite deep. My only regrets are we arrived late and couldn't explore the town and that I didn't buy the special chopsticks for sale here.
Kaminoyama Onsen, Kaminoyama
Guests at Hayamakan can enjoy traditional multi-course meals and relax in the indoor/outdoor hot-spring baths. All rooms come with a private hot-spring bath and free Wi-Fi is available at the lobby area. A free shuttle is available from JR Kaminoyama Onsen Train Station, which is a 5-minute drive away and must be reserved at time of booking. The staff were brilliant and very friendly despite a language barrier with some, shuttling me to and from the station and helping me book a dinner reservation separate from my room booking. The room was as described but that's not a negative, it was a great experience with the footbath and private onsen. Recommend the dinner highly for a local kaiseki offering in a private room.

Excellent stay convenience of hotel with location is superb. Close to everything you could need. Breakfast excellent too much choice really but not a complaint! Staff were very professional and eager to solve any issues
Everything was perfect, a beautiful ryokan on a great spot. Close to the stairway to mount Haguro. A beautiful walk. The host and his wife are very friendly people. And she cooks like a masterchef so book the breakfast and dinner! You have too because no other restaurants, no convientstores. We travelled by public transport. Well organized.
The view from bedroom!!! There’s no real need to leave the room. Massage chair in bedroom! Top quality meals - very Japanese - excellent range - we loved the wagyu beef. Matsushima is gorgeous and definitely worth a visit.
Really comfortable and luxurious. Staff were very nice and spacious rooms. Location was very close to sendai station and downtown sendai
Exceptional service throughout from the front counter staff, the staff in the dining room, and the various other departments. I was not able to get her name, but the very nice lady who served us our dinner provided exceptional service. The ryokan accommodated us even though we were late for our dinner and frazzled from a long day trip. Her service and cheerful disposition calmed our nerves. We had our personal onsen in our room. It was so calming and relaxing.
The reception rooms and lounges were large and comfortably furnished with free coffee for guests. The location was excellent for exploring the city and there was a lovely mountain road behind the hotel leading up to the peak through lush forests. The highlight was the fabulous hot and cold food provided at the expansive buffet at breakfast and dinner. The quality and selections were outstanding. The dining room also had a wonderful view over the city and the valley below.
Very impressive newly renovated rooms with high quality fittings, and attention to details. Staff very polite and professional. Superb dinner and breakfast. Outstanding onsen close to resort area. Highly recommended!
The hotel is an odd mix of dated and classy. We appreciated the music in the common spaces; it added a nice ambiance. Breakfast was good, with nice additions of grilled chicken and scallops. Staff was kind and soft-spoken. We loved how big the room was, how many towels/washcloths we were afforded, and the overflowing amenity box.
Everything, from big room size to beds quality, from excellent location to superb facilities, 5 stars experience, Friendly staff.
