J-Hoppers Kumano Yunomine Guesthouse ligt in Hongu, op 10 minuten rijden of 70 minuten wandelen van de Kumano Kodo-pelgrimsroute vanaf Kumano Hongu Taisha Grand Shrine. The hostel was fantastic. We rented a tatami room, which was spotless, very comfortable and with a really nice view. The onsen was amazing, we absolutely loved it. Everything was clean, there were snacks, eggs to boil in the onsens in town and all cooking and serving tools to eat them afterwards. The bathrooms were incredibly clean. This was our favourite stay along the Kumano Kodo, despite being the cheapest.

Minshuku Sumiya is gunstig gelegen in de wijk Kawayu Onsen in Tanabe, en ligt op 12 km van Hosshinmon Oji Shrine, 20 km van Kumanokodo Nakahechi Museum of Art en 23 km van Kumanoshi Kiwakozan Museum. The owner is just fantastic! Great personality, we loved all our interactions. At the end, he drove us to Kogumotori-oji for our hike. The mattress is comfortable and the breakfast is good. He prepared lunch boxes for us on request. The minshuku has robes for bathing in the hot springs and I loved how welcoming the atmosphere was. I want to return someday.

Hotel Kirinosato Takahara heeft zowel binnen als buiten warmwaterbaden en ligt op slechts 2 minuten lopen van de Kumano Kodo-pelgrimsroutes, die op de werelderfgoedlijst van Unesco staan. Excellent property and location, very friendly staff, enjoyable onsen. Views are stunning. Hotel provides lunch bentos for a fee, which is very convenient.

Ashita no Mori is goed gelegen in de wijk Kawayu Onsen in Hongu, en ligt op 20 km van Kumanokodo Nakahechi Museum of Art, 23 km van Kumanoshi Kiwakozan Museum en 33 km van Kamikura Shrine. The onsen hotel is at the bank of Kumano river, not far away from the Shingu town. The hotel has two private onsens in house free to use. You can get a spade from the hotel to dig out a bed in the river bank to make your own onsen. Our room was facing the river with a breathtaking scenic view. The dinner was not included but the food (Kumano beef) was delicious with tasty Sake. The breakfast was included. The best breakfast we had through this 7 days trip. The host family are really nice and great. They have a loveable school age daughter(Emu) smiling all the time. They offer the luggage delivery service to our next two hotels with the pricing much better than Kumano travel or Yamoto.

Yunominesou biedt rustige warmwaterbronnen in de buitenlucht met uitzicht op de natuur, een Nakai-san persoonlijke begeleider, karaoke, massages en heerlijke Kaiseki-diners. The staff was extremely friendly, welcoming, and spoke English very well. From the moment we checked in, we got to relax right away and change into Yukatas. The private onsen were fantastic. The meals were phenomenal (both dinner and breakfast the next morning). They were Japanese styled, so strong flavours for breakfast for the average westerners, but I believe they can do western breakfasts as well. Definitely a very relaxing stay.

Nakanoshima ligt op 5 minuten met de veerboot van de pier van Kanko Sanbashi en biedt warmwaterbronnen en massages. We had a group of 5 people and stayed in the Deluxe family room. Everything was clean and prepared for our arrival and the staff showed us around all of the facilities and explained everything to us in English as we did not speak much Japanese, Not all of the staff spoke English, however anytime we had a query that required it they would always help us to speak with someone who did which was extremely helpful. The room itself was extremely spacious and came with 2 large beds and 3 tatami beds that were setup for us when we went for dinner. The room had all of the amenities that you could need and also gave each person a yukata and sandals that could be worn around the entire site. The balcony overlooks the bay and other areas on the island and is very beautiful, particularly at sunrise and sunset. The food for both dinner and breakfast was exceptional. The staff were extremely attentive and explained each of the courses to us in English and were always on hand for even the smallest request. There is a fantastic walk on the top of the island that is accessible via the main lift and is a brilliant spot for photographs or just to relax in the quiet although the staff explained that it is closed when it is dark so make sure not to miss out on it if you are interested. The site has both indoor and outdoor Onsen's which are rotated between Men and Women each day. These were extremely well kept and have all of the necessities for showering beforehand etc. These were absolutely the highlight of the accommodation and I would thoroughly recommend that everyone uses them at least once during their stay. The boats to and from the mainland can be arranged with staff up to every 15 minutes and they can also arrange a free taxi shuttle service from the dock to the train station nearby I would also just like to mention about how exceptional all of the staff were. We felt welcome from the moment we set foot on the boat to the moment we stepped back off it.

一棟貸し民宿 川湯の家 is gelegen in Tanabe, op slechts 12 km van Hosshinmon Oji Shrine, en biedt accommodatie met gratis WiFi, gratis privéparkeren en uitzicht op de rivier. The staff were lovely and very helpful before and during our stay. The house is spacious and scrupulously clean. The beds are very comfortable, and the bath is worth the wait to fill with hot spring water. We enjoyed the free snacks and instant noodles for a no fuss dinner. The Kawayu Onsen bus stop is a few meters away, making transport easy. Soaking in the river hot springs is a short walk away. We would definitely stay here again.

Natural Hot Spring Inn Choseian - 長生庵 - is gelegen op 18 minuten lopen van Shirahama Beach en 2 km van Shirahama Art Museum, en biedt kamers met airconditioning en een gedeelde badkamer in Shirahama. Beautiful garden and relaxing Onsen. Dinners were all quite good!! Staff are all very helpful!

Dog Hotel Shirahama ドッグホテル シラハマ is gelegen in Shirahama in de regio Wakayama, dicht bij Shirahama Beach en Saki-no-Yu Onsen Spa.

那智温泉 南の湯 - Nachi Manga Onsen is gelegen op 12 minuten lopen van Fudarakusanji Temple, en biedt accommodatie in Nachikatsuura met toegang tot een thermaalbad. Amazing accomodation, what a little gem! You can tell the host had put in a lot of effort for the guests. Outside it looks older, however the inside is fresh and looks newly done up. Self check in was easy, apartment was spacious and very clean. Host has everything you could need, and a manual to help you out with all the appliances and setting up the onsen. Easy to get to by train from the station or Nachi falls, and host sent me through the bus timetable just making out stay that little bit easier. Bikes were a big plus, was a 5 min bike ride for us to grab some dinner as we arrived late in the afternoon. There was a great selection of manga in English and Japanese to enjoy as well. Everything was very convenient and great for travellers walking the Kumano Kodo. Thank you very much for having us!
