Of course, the Guesthouse is not comparable to a 3Stars hotel but when you come to this kind of place, Ciza e Rose is exactly the kind of Guesthouse you expect! Rose was born here, he is the right man at the right place and his family is very nice. Rose can speak many languages, including french. The rooms are simple but have all you need. They are big, quiet and all around a patio. Board games are available and we could play Awale and learn a new way to play with Michael, the son. The breakfast was really good and a bit different each day, with cakes... We got a lot of explanations from Rose, who is also a guide if you need. Communication was really easy with them, even before arriving. A "collectivos" picked us up at the airport and Rose organized another one to drop us to Sao Filipe. We eat at the Guesthouse in the evenings. At midday, we went several times to Isabel Restaurant ( actually Isabel is Rose's sister but we didn't know it the first time!). By the way, Rose has 6 brothers/sisters at Portela.

Casa Alcindo ligger i Chã das Caldeiras og har bar. Ejendommen har døgnåben reception og restaurant. Gæsterne kan nyde udsigten over bjergene. Fantastic stay, we loved it! All the staff were brilliant, Laetitia is the most welcoming and helpful host and Alcindo a fantastic guide. They helped make our stay very special. The location and space they have created is beautiful.

TCHAN LOVe ligger i Portela og har udsigt til byen, restaurant, en børneklub, bar, have, terrasse og legeplads. Bed & breakfast-stedet har både gratis wi-fi og privat parkering. This is a very nice place to stay for couple nights. Quiet, comfortable. Breakfast was included and I have asked for it at 6am, so the Lady just left it from the evening (coffee in a termopot). Also you can ask for a dinner, which is really good, super tasty (Ive got a fish with rice and veggies for 900 escudo). And also you can ask for some wine (industrial or craft homemade, about 200 per glass). The place has not many reviews but it's seems super new, means you will have also super new bathroom which is nice bonus for staying. As for the transfer: you can book the place in Alluger with the room booking. The way from Sao Filipi is 50-60 mins and costs 1000 escudo. As for the trekking: 1. The location is the best, right next to the start of few trekking routes 2. You can ask the owner for a guide, just ask for someone local who is actually based here in Caldeiras and not in Sao Filipe. As for the Pico Grande you will definitely need a guide because it's super tricky route. For the Pico Grande the usual price is 6000 per person but it's could be a discount if you are in group 3. Also you can walk by yourself (without guide) for couple places: e.g Pico Pequeno (it's now that far) and also you can walk to the Forest Monte Velha (about 5 kms till the entrance to the Forest) or even to Mosteiros (about 16 kms in total, 10 kms at the normal road and 6 kms are a bit difficult, inside the forest - not the easiest trail but it's possible)

We have spent 2 weeks in Cabo Verde and haven’t met anyone that kind, welcoming and helpful. The place is also amazing. Out of nowhere, facing the sea, natural swimming pool… you name it! Katya also offers a few options to discover Fogo island like pico de fogo.
