I truly enjoyed my chats with Mohammed as we discussed our views about the desert, the country, life... (Merci Mohammed!) Come here for a different experience to a hotel and still with more than enough comforts. You can arrange excursions with him, all just easy. We went on a dromedary ride in the late afternoon, it was a very relaxing time. The property is located at the very end of the inhabited areas before the Sahara, so there's only the desert around you, and it's easy to move around in your own car or by taxi (5-10 minutes to Douz). All positives.

The hosts were lovely and extremely welcoming and helpful. We had a wonderful time, it could not have been better! The garden is beautiful and the perfect place to relax. Additionally, the food in the restaurant was very good and clearly prepared with love and care. For people exploring the south of Tunisia (and birds or other wildlife), the location is great - supermarkets and tank stations nearby in Kebili - while the Sahara, mountains and salt lake are all within an hour drive. I cannot recommend this place enough, and when we return to Tunisia we will for sure visit Dar Barka again!

It was truly wonderful. Right in the middle of the desert, exactly as shown in the photos. Since we arrived late, we missed part of the activities, but the staff were very friendly and helpful. On the way, our car got stuck in the sand, and within just two minutes they sent a vehicle from the camp to assist us, which was incredibly kind. The camp’s location is really unique. Waking up early in the morning to watch the sunrise over the endless desert is unforgettable. The rooms were comfortable and cozy.
