Outstanding 5-star hotel in a historic building on a hill directly on the estuary. The hotel offers all the amenities that guests expect in this category. In the spa area there is a heated indoor pool with various whirlpools, fitness room, sauna and steam bath. The breakfast buffet is rich, varied and good. Even with boiled shrimps and champagne! The hotel has two restaurants, one of which is a “gourmet temple”. The rooms are scrupulously clean and luxuriously furnished. The staff are extremely friendly and competent. We were picked up from the parking lot with an umbrella on arrival and directed to reception. We didn't have to worry about our luggage on arrival or departure.

Excellent villa, the hosts were extremely helpful and it was easy to contact them. The house was very clean and modern and has all the amenities you need for a relaxing holiday including a pool, BBQ and pool table. It's in a great location that is quick to get into Porto, but also easy to get to other nearby beaches and towns. We had a great stay and would whole-heartedly recommend this villa.

Wonderful hostess and host. You can clearly feel that the guesthouse is their heart and soul. Most welcoming and warm people. The hospitalety was great and the hostess took her time to pull us aside to explain the camino route going forward as there were some changes due to construction. Clean and a comfy room with balcony. Pool was small and refreshing. Breakfast was perfect and the hostess offered us to pack a lunch for the camino walk from the breakfast.

Amazing welcome from Elizabeth who owns smiling places.Cool lemonade for the kids by the pool and a beer ,glass of wine,water,coffee whatever you needed on arrival. Rooms are fabulous,pool is a welcome relief to tired legs and just to chill 😎. Breckfast was delicious and lovely to chat to Elizabeth and her husband and hear about their lives ,such a lovely couple. I could not recommend Smiling Places more .It has everything and more .We would definately love to come back some day

Everything was amazing! This was our first and best stop on the Camino. Our host was such a blessing and every detail of the stay made it memorable. Well appointed, comfortable rooms with air conditioning. Lovely pool area outside to relax. Very nice breakfast that accommodated my gluten free needs and sent us with sandwiches and fruit for our lunch. We bought our Camino shell here and proudly added our pin to the map. Wonderful experience!

I highly recommend staying at Smiling Places Guesthouse. The varmest welcome - and send off by the lovely and helpful hosts. I was walking the Camino so sadly only stayed one night. Beautiful and immaculate rooms. Delicious breakfast and great facilities both indoor and outside (pool,terrasse/garden). I would definitely stay again and cannot remmomend it highly enough.

Clean, easy to find, beautiful, had a swimming pool and place to do laundry. Room was cute, we had the bird room. excellent shower and large bathroom. Breakfast was fantastic! Order what you want from a good variety the evening before.
