I arrived there just after the cyclone and even if the park was closed they arranged a nice tour around and a temple visit. Very nice!

La Safari Inn Tissamaharama offers an indoor pool. The area is popular for cycling, and car hire is available at the inn. Very good place to stay. The staff welcomed us and provided us with a very precious jeep to go on a Yala safari the next day. Everything is fine.

From the moment we arrived we felt welcome and cared for - the staff really want to make sure you have a comfortable and enjoyable stay. This is evident in the facilities - air con, good fans, filtered water in the room, mosquito nets (even though there weren’t many mosquitos), a fridge, a hair dryer, adapters to suit every country’s appliances. My favourite - bicycles. This allowed us to ride around town - a thoroughly enjoyable way to see the place. We did an afternoon safari and managed to see a sloth bear! Along with so many other animals - many elephants, crocodiles, deer, bird species, mongoose, jackals, goannas (probably forgetting a lot here). The leopard eluded us. My husband and I have been on safari in Africa so we thought maybe we’d be underwhelmed - but it was awesome. The pool was great for my kids. The temperature was just right. Breakfast was tasty and very generous, and the place has such a peaceful outlook over the rice fields. All of this for such good value. Thank you to all the staff for making this such a lovely stay.

The pool water also seemed to be properly filtered, and none of us—including the children—had any stomach issues. The Ayurvedic spa massage was also excellent. We had a wonderful experience with both the beach walk and the safari tour. We were lucky enough to see elephants, though the leopard didn’t make an appearance. Even so, we truly appreciated how the ranger kept searching deep into the park until the very end. The dishes prepared by the head chef, who kindly came to greet us at our table on the first night, were absolutely delicious! For breakfast, I had GM Sri Lanka every single day. It’s a hotel I would definitely love to visit again. Thank you so much! The clean-up activity in the national park was also a really enjoyable experience.

I am so glad I booked into Leopard Reach as my base for the Yala National Park because I had a truly unforgettable taste of luxury in the jungle. I loved it so much, I stayed two nights. This is a truly special place, with only a few tent-lodges. In fact, I was the only guest on the property, and was treated like a queen. The interior of my room was top quality, with all amenities. And the private mini pool on the terrace was extremely welcome. On both nights I had an exceptional dinner; the first night consisted of a Sri Lankan curry with so many lovely dishes, and the second was an al fresco BBQ, prepared just for me. Breakfast was served on my private terrace. I cannot speak highly enough of Fonseka, the General Manager (the quintessential host) and his trusty team of Randika (what a great guy), Lakruwan (who makes the place run like clockwork) and Kasun (the Chef).
