We booked the cedar yurt, which was large and cozy. Enjoyed the wood stove after a rainy day on the sea. Nice selection of books and games to borrow. Beachcombing on property, accessed by tiny ferry boat you pulled across the channel with a rope.

I mainly stuck to downtown but I'd say Halifax is a great spot to visit. The city's downtown area is SUPER easy for newcomers to figure out and navigate, I had pretty much the entire 20-minute stretch surrounding the hostel I was staying at memorized after like a half hour of walking around, to the point I didn't even need to dig out Google Maps when I walked down to the Scotiabank Centre for the The Used concert. For food, I didn't go to any restaurants. I just stocked up on pre-made meals from the Superstore on Barrington St and snacks from the Park Lane Mall Dollarama, so I don't have any recommendations for food spots, unfortunately. But there were a lot of spots that I saw that looked very interesting that I want to try next time I'm in Halifax. My favourite places in Halifax were this little retro video game and trading card shop downtown called The Deck Box, and obviously the venue where I finally got to see my favourite band of all time, The Used, perform live, the Scotiabank Centre.

What a quaint place to visit, the Port of Sydney, the Big Fiddle, the boardwalk and the shopping was great. I was there during the Celtic Festival and had a great time. When the cruise ships are docked, there is small vendors open for shopping and I found some great items for purchase. It was easy to get around the city, although at the time of our visit, there was some construction going on, which slowed down the traffic. All in all i would love to come back in the future!!

If you want to feel like you have come home, be warmly greeted wherever you may go, then you will enjoy visiting Antigonish. Home to St Francis Xavier University (St FX), Saint Martha's Hospital, the town is a great base from which to explore hiking, beaches and local arts and crafts in NS.

We had to be close to the ferry for an early morning crossing. Downtown was mostly closed when we arrived close to 5:00 pm. We walked to a coffee shop, but it had little to offer and we left without making a purchase. The hotel has a restaurant but we didn't want a heavy meal, so didn't eat there, but the menu looked OK. There's a pretty park across from the hotel and a beautiful view of the waterfront from our window.

The overall feeling was that the room was quite dated.

The overall feeling was that the room was quite dated. It was a large room and had a jacuzzi tub next to the bed which we didn't use. It would be better if they removed it from the sleeping area and made the bathroom larger to accommodate a larger shower and double sink. The bathroom fixtures were quite old. We were only there briefly (one night) as we were flying out the next day. The proximity to the airport was very good as it only took 7 minutes to drive there. It was also very close to where we are friends live who invited us for dinner. For $300 a night, they should have provided bottles of water in the room and real glasses instead of plastic.

Wolfville is a wonder university town that has many great options for a coffee, a beverage, an excellent meal, also great little stores and farmer markets open all year round. The Town's Farmer's Market on Saturdays is excellent. Winery, craft beer and/or cider, touring is excellent making it hard to purchase a nice bottle of something from each. Hiking at Cape Split or Blomidon is also a plus as is a stop at the Grand Pre Parks Canada site that speaks to the Acadian expulsion in 1755 (plus). Overall, an excellent place to spend the weekend or a week.
