Everything was excellent. The hosts were friendly and attentive; the room was lovely and very clean; the breakfast was one of the best we had on our trip; great shower; easy and free parking; and the location was great - on a quiet, residential street, but close enough to walk down to the lake.

Such a fantastic hotel! We arrived by car and were able to park right outside the front door. Immediately a young man came out to help us with our luggage. As you enter the huge lobby you can see the amazing views. Carolina on reception was so welcoming and charming. Lovely room with a balcony, incredible views and a machine providing filtered water. Fabulous breakfast, again with great views! Perfect location, easy walking distance to restaurants and shops. Wish we could have stayed longer!

I loved the atmosphere of Casa Ayacara, it was everything I imagined. Like stepping into a hotel from the 20's with wooden floor and wooden everything. Just lovely. Staff was welcoming and very hospitable. The newly opened restaurant (not part of the hotel but in the same room where breakfast is served) served perfect homemade Italian pasta and it wasd the best breakfast we had in all of Chile.

Incredible view of the sea - this place is a little slice of paradise with a gorgeous terrace to enjoy amazing views. Cristina was a wonderful host and cooked a delicious breakfast with homemade bread and the bed was super comfy and was a very peaceful place to relax for a few days with stunning beaches. Look forward to coming back in a year’s time!

This hotel is conveniently located just a few blocks from the bus station, though the walk involves going uphill. The elevated location offers lovely views from certain rooms and the breakfast area, which is situated on the top floor and features large windows that let in plenty of natural light. The hotel is also just a short walk from the town center, where you’ll find a variety of restaurants, bars, cafés, shops, a shopping mall, and a cinema. The rooms are reasonably comfortable, but they could use some refurbishment. In my room, I noticed peeling wallpaper, some dampness, and water damage. On the plus side, the main bedroom and bathroom have good windows for ventilation. However, I would have appreciated having a fridge in the room. There is a water dispenser in the reception area, providing both hot and cold water, which is a nice touch. Reception is staffed 24/7, and the staff are friendly and very helpful. Overall, I had a pleasant stay and wouldn’t mind staying here again.

Would I stop here again? Absolutely, YES! Fabulous B&B especially if you are a solo traveller wanting good value. Very friendly and welcoming host who speaks perfect English. Spotlessly clean and full of character and interest. Comfy bed and it is very quiet here at night. Perfect for a good night's sleep. The breakfast is delicious here. Excellent WiFi. The views from the garden on a clear day, are stunning! Walking distance into town for a supermarket and restaurant. I would happily recommend this B&B to family and friends.

An exceptional experience. We had a eco cabin which had a tremendous view of the lake and volcanoes. The cabin was spacious and modern. The fitness centre was a bonus and we also used the pool which has a similar view. Carlos at the desk was most helpful in booking day trips and other information. The hotel restaurant is high standard. Breakfast has a good choice buffet. Its a short walk to the lakeside restaurants and the town. The cabins are surely the best place to stay in Puerto Varas.

We stayed in a dome with a hot tub and it was excellent. The dome was really nicely done with a comfy bed and a full bathroom. The hot tub was fantastic and we spent many hours over our stay in the beautiful warm water with sound of the river in the background. Restaurant was good for breakfast and dinner. Indoor and outdoor thermal pools on site as well which were nice too. There were also walking trails from the hotel but we didn’t get time to try them.

Charming lake-side town with great weather, restaurants and pastelerias. Scenery is wonderful with great places to see nature not far away. Enjoy a stroll along the lake and beaches. Highly recommend the restaurant De Barrio. Huge portions at very reasonable prices, friendly service in a cozy laid back environment. Food at Inca Pecador was very good although service was slow probably due to the New Years holiday. Try rafting with Terra Sur based in Ensenada. They also have a sales booth at Petrohue falls. You are on the water for only about an hour, which is not very long. But you are on class 3 rapids most of the time (unlike rafting we have done in the US where you spend lots of time just drifting).

Castro is a basic Chilloe town. There is walking around the estuary and a beach on the opposite side. The national park with a board walk walk is 30 minutes drive. There are a couple of good restaurants. Two days was plenty of time

A "Hidden gem".

A "Hidden gem". Volcano country is about an hour's drive from the city, through a rural countryside that is well worth seeing. There are many lakes, where the locals constantly visit for outdoor camping, sailing and hiking (the water is too cold for swimming). A surprising ethnic mix of peoples (Spanish, Chinese, German and indigenous "Indian") with accompanying blend of architectural styles and their enclaves, and a blend of food choices that can be enjoyed by almost everyone. Our stay at the Sonesta Hotel was fabulous, with personal service everywhere and very comfortable accommodations. But be certain to bring an adapter for the outlets.

I have always loved Frutillar for its magnificent views of...

I have always loved Frutillar for its magnificent views of the lake and snow-capped volcano. The town is neat, peaceful, with good cultural activities at the Teatro del Lago where concerts, shows and even opera take place. There is not a large variety of restaurants but Puerto Varas, a nearby city has plenty of them. The scenery around the area is very beautiful with lots of activities to engage in. There is a lot of rain so everything is green and blooming in spring.

Chaitén a lovely little town.

Chaitén a lovely little town. Its volcanic history is awe inspiring. Really interesting. Lots of places closed though, and it’s summer!! Seems a bit like a ghost town at weekends. The Patagonia green tour company well worth a visit, a great tour to the volcano and waterfall.

Hornopiren is an excellent base waiting for the ferry, but is also a good base to investigate the area around. The coastal route is simply beautiful with fisherman's village and real life stories in front of you. We have seen impressive birdlife, seals, dolphins and nice beaches. To the other side you can follow the bay on where the caratera austral was going to run. A much calmer coast with rain forest cover and beautiful views. There is also the area where the rio blanco and rio negro enter the bay. Beautiful rain forest with great tracking options. In a few words, Hornopiren is worth 2 or 3 days at least. b.t.w. November is great!

Set in it's own space in the land, set apart from the owner's house so felt private. Beautiful view of the lake one one side and hills on the other. Secure location so felt very safe with the car too, beds were really comfortable, showers were brilliant, facilities were excellent (washing machine, oven, air-fryer, wifi) so worth the price we paid. Uber works here. Quite a few dining options nearby. Shopping at a 7-story mall is very close: 5 min walk. Beautiful pier for bird watchers. We felt safe here. Most of the city is an easy walk. Love the parrillada and the Club Aleman for lunch and dinner.
