The peace and energy you can feel here, I have never experienced anywhere. A place where you can only here the birds, the wind an waves. A place with raw beauty, that takes your breath away. The decoration and love for the details are absolutely stunning. The beds are so confortable, the room has all you need, even a small bag to take your towels to the beach. Everything is so clean and well mantained. The Food is of a really high quality and delicious! The bread for the breakfast is served warm with really good jam and butter. Heaven! The Fruits and Juices are delicious! The dinner was everyday outstanding. Sofia and Fernando are passionate chefs! But let’s talk about the Staff… they really are something else and make this place stand out. Rosa is a true host with a big smile, very professional and always looking to please you. Elisangelo, Aleandro and Leo always very kind and with a big smile, ready to fulfill any wish of the guests. This people work with the heart and are so professional, with their big smiles - so contagious! It’s impossible not to carry them in your hearts. To thank them is an understatement, we absolutely fell in love with this peace an people.
The raw beauty of the beaches in the area are stunning, different from Sal Rei etc. but beautiful in it’s own way. With turtles and sharks, you can feel nature in a heartbeat. The Shuttle Service three times a qeek to go to Sal Rei is amazing! During the ride you can always meet locals, which take a ride to Bofareira (a small little village nearby) which is amazing and ecological. This place is really a hidden gem with a special energy and we will return for sure!

Exceptional Stay at an Outstanding Hotel
I recently had the pleasure of staying at this hotel, and it exceeded every expectation. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with warmth and professionalism by the staff, who were always ready to go above and beyond to make my stay as comfortable as possible. Their attention to detail and genuine kindness truly set this place apart from others.
The cleanliness of the hotel was impeccable. Every area, from the lobby to the rooms, was spotless, well-maintained, and clearly cared for. It's evident that the management places a high priority on hygiene and comfort, which gave me peace of mind throughout my stay.
I can’t recommend this hotel enough. The friendly staff and immaculate facilities made my experience unforgettable. Whether you're here for business or leisure, this is a place where you’ll feel taken care of from start to finish.

Very nice and helpful staff. Taxi from and to airport were well arranged. The room was large with a nice private terras. Rooms were cleaned daily and two large bottles of water were offered at arrival. There is a small shop nearby that I used to get a cheap local SIM card (2€ for 1GB of data - doesn't get any better than that :-)). The formula with all means included was very nice: the morning a buffer with all I could wish for and the other meals are 3 courses with choses of meat, pizza, fish, veggie, ... There was sufficient room around the pool area and there is a great view on the sunset! I highly recommend to rent a scooter in Santa-Maria for a couple of days, allowing to easily discover the best parts of the island. Also here, the reception gave me very good pointers.

The hotel was clean and comfortable. The staff were excellent, especially Nilza. When flying from Fogo to Sao Vicente, the airline left all out luggage on Fogo. We were due to sail to Sao Anteo but decided to rearrange the ferry and stay in Porto Grande to try and let our luggage catch up with us. There were 8 of us and we only booked in on the day of our stay. They were not phased when we arrived with only the grubby clothes that we stood up in and Nilza was very helpful. She liaised with the airline and airports to establish where our luggage was [getting further than we could] and arranged a large taxi for us all to have a happy reunion with the luggage that evening. Wiyhout hteir help the holiday would have been a lot more difficult.

Extraordinary sports offer, very good food and spa, kind staff, comfortable rooms. I was most surprised by a very large and novative sports offer, from yoga to HIT, with very good trainers. Food offer was very good too, and daily sauna at the end of the day was the cherry on the cake. Evenings in February were too cold for us to attend evening events but they seemed very nice too.
We appreciated a lot that hotel managed to extend our stay in despite of high demand.
Even though majority of staff and guests are German, everyone speaks English and made us feel comfortable.

We were only there for three nights to get some sun and...
We were only there for three nights to get some sun and snorkelling. If we’d stayed longer I would have gone on a couple of trips but there isn’t lots to do there. I went to relax and enjoy the sun and sea, I could have stayed one more day but not enough there to keep you busy for a week.
Some nice restaurants along the strip and the people weren’t too pushy which I loved even the guys selling on the beach.

The carnival time is one of the best times to enjoy Mindelo. Very colourful, lots of excitement and great atmosphere. You should try the local food, cachupa and the kamoka ice cream. Sao Pedro, close to the airport is a great place to see the turtles. The fish museum is adjacent to the African market where you can get souvenirs.

Boa Vista is dirty and under development, I am sure it will be nice when it is finished. If you safely in an hotel I am sure it is fine but for an independent traveller it isn't. I tried to hire a bicycle or scooter through an outfit called Katlantik, who are totally useless and should be avoided like the plague so I had to walk everywhere, luckily it's a small island!. There are beach sports available but they focus on wing foiling and everything else is a bit too much trouble for them, one place did have an old fashioned hobie cat but it was broken (for the last two years) and nobody seemed motivated to get it fixed, they offered wing foiling as an alternative.
Most places only accept cash but when I was there none of the ATM machine's worked and getting currency from a bank takes between 30 minutes and two hours.
There are some nice restaurants and the sand is lovely. I was asked at the airport if I would recommned friends visit Cape Verde? NO

Perfect base to explore the whole island of Sal.
Perfect base to explore the whole island of Sal. Very close to the airport.
Especially nice experience for me was Pedra de Lume. There are nice and helpful people everywhere. I will certainly come back. Please note that this is not a beach or resort type of holiday like in Santa Maria.

It's wonderful brand new well equipped and modern apartment. For me the location was fantastic. It was meters from the beach and a supermarket and a great local restaurant. I always talked to town to meet the shuttles and drivers for hikes and the ferry.
There is a great balcony - I also cooked and used the washing machine - living room was really wide in comparison to majority of apartment rentals I had. I really loved it.

There are many places to visit at this side of the island.
There are many places to visit at this side of the island. Xoxo, Cova crater, the walk between Cruzinha and Ponta do Sol, Paul valley, Synagoga are all fantastic. If you don't fear heights and like to hike up or down, then you find breathtaking views and hidden gems wherever you go.
Hiking routes are fairly signaled, though we lost the way sometimes - but every time we found something extra, a nice village, terraces, locals working in the gardens or on the fields.
The town is not big, but have some nice restaurants and bars to eat and drink.
Easy to find taxi or aluguer, though not many are running on Sundays.

Beautiful view of the sunset from tidal pools where you can swim protected from the waves. My host arranged a reservation at a private restaurant in someone's home, with live music. It was delicious and a great experience.
The town is a little dirty. I didn't stay long enough to really know the town, I'm sure it has its gems.

Lovely small town by the coast close to mountain trails. We stayed 5 nights but would have happily stayed another couple of nights.
Good restaurants in town including an authentic Italian place run by an Italian and serving home-made pasta with tables on his terrace. He has a wonderful model town, that he has made himself, on display for you to look at while waiting to order. Casa Maracuja served good local cuisine and we also enjoyed the food at Paladar where they serve cachupa. We had a rental car, but there were also alughers available for transport to Porto Novo, the ferry port.

Beirona/ Murdeira is a beautiful place, definitely worth choosing if you want to relax on the beach/ by the pool without crowds of people around you. There’s just one shop here ( it has an ATM which is a huge advantage), but it’s well stocked. If you’re not a fan of big resorts, but want a laid back holiday, be sure to visit.

Rabil itself is nothing special - but that's completely...
Rabil itself is nothing special - but that's completely beside the point as you will never go there - it is just the name of a small town close to the airport serving Boa Vista, Cape Verde. The actual jewel is Praia de Chaves which is close to Rabil (about 5 mins drive) - and this beach is as close as you will ever get to paradise. There are some lovely villas available to rent on the beach and an excellent beach bar.
