Interesting and picturesque castle.

Interesting and picturesque castle. Lovely views and walks from the village (though probably more from nearby Cazorla). We travelled in April, just after Easter, and there were no restaurants open in the village, so the one small minarket had to suffice. Had the weather been better, we could probably have walked into Cazorla village where there may have been places to eat

A good location to stay close enough to a range of beautiful routes for walking in the natural park. We could have stayed closer but we wanted our own self-catering accommodation with a safe place for our dogs and not to be in a town so Burunchel was perfect. We had a secure garden, a log cabin with a verandah and olive groves at the end of the lane just 1km outside the sweet little village.

The streets in the town centre are very narrow which are shared by pedestrians and cars and at times come too close for comfort. A number of the bars and restaurants are closed for a number of days during the week or some permanently due to lack of staff!! The food served in most places was Tapas, Raciones which were mainly very good if not too different from one bar to another. If you are sightseeing by car be prepared for challenging mountain roads and local rally drivers. The town has a lot of charm but as a natural reserve better not to be visited in the hot summer months.
