Loved the room and the breakfast. The hosts were all so friendly and helpful. Everything was totally spotless. Sara De Ur was a perfect stop for us after an evening flight into Madrid. An easy 30 minute drive north of the city on our way to San Sebastian.

I loved everything about this hotel. Perfect location in town, super comfortable bed, very clean, and the staff was so friendly. Although the hotel itself does not have parking, there is free parking just a few meters away. I would absolutely stay here again.

The hotel has a rustic charm and a quiet atmosphere. The staff was friendly, the room was simple, clean, and the water pressure very good. The restaurant around the corner had wonderful fish, pulpo, and they had a delicious vegan pizza!

The accommodation was close to the motorway, but very quiet.

The accommodation was close to the motorway, but very quiet. It was easy to find. We travel with three dogs so the outside space and large internal space are essential. We took our own dinner and breakfast but next time would like to explore the area to see if there are any bars. Our host was friendly and welcoming. The pool was a bonus and refreshing after a long hot journey.

The waterfall walk is well worth the effort, take your swimming costume and swim at Las Precillias, where you can buy food and drinks too at the cafe. Very good public transport to Madrid. Rascafaria is a beautiful town that is well looked after. The is a nice public swimming pool in summer too. People were very friendly, there are good restaurants and small food shops.

We use Hostal Landhaus in El Molar as an overnight stop only - no sightseeing or shopping involved. El Molar itself is easily accessible from the A1 motorway in either direction but, from the north, it helps to have local knowledge of the access road to the hostal. Check with Google maps street view to get you through the car park behind the flats and onto the Landhaus parking area.

Weekend escape for two.

Weekend escape for two. The hotel was amazing, room was huge and the view was really nice. Great place for hiking and we recommend having dinner at the hotel restaurant which was really good. Staff was super friendly and helpful, especially Angela in the reception.

Parking in Patones is difficult.

Parking in Patones is difficult. Arrive before 9am to find a spot in the parking area next to the trash cans. That is the only spot tgat parking is allowed nearby the town without having to walk all the way up. There is a secondary parking option in Patones before you go up hill. That is safest to avoid getti g a ticket. Patones ia stunning and well worth a visit. It also has plenty of restaurant options. My favorite is Poleo Patones. The staff is very pleasant and food is very nice.

The town is a small village along the highway.

The town is a small village along the highway. There are several cafe's and restaurants, check on the internet for opening hours. We normally eat near our hostal. We also take a little walk up and down the main street. Not that much going on, but perfect, if you are on the move, and you just need one overnight stay, before you move on.

This was a lovely little village to stay in just outside Madrid. It was perfect to enjoy the snowy day. We walked down to the puente de perdon and the bosque finlandes, which took about half an hour each way. We also walked up to nearby hills, where we got a great view of the town. Head to the end of Calle Jaramilla going south, take a right at the municipal pool, then head along the road through the fields and keep going! I would also recommend Meson Paranche on the main sqaure by the town hall, for food and wine! We got the bus from Madrid (Plaza Castilla) which took just over 2 hours.

Coming south through Spain, an ideal location to spend a night north of Madrid, around 350 kms from Santander. 'what's simple works best' is how I would helpfully describe this hotel. Good rooms, beds, bathroom, locals were curious and friendly, menu del dia was OK, so were snacks. Parking........tight......watch out for the support posts. Good to be fresh for tackling the ring road next morning. Would use this hotel again.
