I chose to stay at this hotel mainly for easy access to Ukko-Koli on the summer solstice, so I could enjoy the sunrise and sunset. The staff at the reception were very helpful and genuinely nice to me. Breakfast tasted even better with the view of Lake Pielinen. The sauna has fixed hours, so it’s a good idea to check the schedule in advance. (I didn’t have time to go, though—too bad! 😅)

The cottage was absolutely adorable and it had everything one would want, a little kitchen, a comfortable bed in a tiny bedroom, and a sauna. We heated the sauna every night. It also had a washer which was great considering we had been on the road for some time and it was nice to be able to do some laundry. It even had a cute little Koda which we used to grill some hot dogs. It was so very quiet and we loved it, no interstate traffic or flights overhead.
