Our room was very spacious, very clean and nicely decorated with comfortable beds. The sauna from our room was also amazing to have. Breakfast was tasty with many options to choose from. United KingdomThe Northern Lights Village was simply incredible. The aurora cabins were perfect, very clean and modern. We were lucky enough to be able to watch the stars and the Northern Lights from bed one evening. We even had Rituals products in the bathroom! The restaurant and bar was a great communal space and we couldn’t fault the food at all, every dish was fantastic with plenty of choice. A massive thank you to all the staff who were very helpful, welcoming and made our stay so memorable!

This place is so fantastic. The moment we stepped in, we were greeted by extremely polite and helpful staffs. The communication was brilliant as we can just WhatsApp the reception for any necessary things. We managed to check in earlier. Got the transfer from East Village to West Village. Very smooth service. Amazing! Even the igloo glass was so clean and they said they can always clean that for us if it blocked our view. We had the best moment here as we had vast auroras just in our igloo area. The whole night we just lied on the bed to watch the dance of aurora. We slept with the auroras in other words. As we need to check out very early the next day. They arranged bell boy to collect our luggages and to take us to the reception. They even prepared us very good breakfast boxes. Well done team.

A Magical Stay in Lapland
Our stay at this cozy one-bedroom chalet was unforgettable! Surrounded by snowy forests and offering stunning views of the northern lights, it was the perfect winter escape. The chalet was well-equipped with a crackling fireplace and an excellent sauna.
The staff went above and beyond, and the traditional Finnish wood-smoked sauna with the invigorating outdoor cold plunge was a true highlight. We even spotted reindeer wandering near the cottage, adding to the magic!
The staff were warm and helpful, offering great tips for local activities. A big thank you to the staff at smoke sauna for motivating me to jump into the cold plunge pool :). If you’re looking for a peaceful and authentic Lapland retreat, this is the place to stay.

I stayed with my spouse for 2 nights in cabin number 8 and were well pleased with the cleanliness, room's heating (as outside temperature was -10 to -15), the polite and helpful staff, a fast food restaurant and a bar run by owner close to the property, close proximity to Ivalo river(good for Aurora gazing and other activities). The host and his son gave us valuable insights about Lapland and it's culture and we enjoyed the fast food with Finnish beer.
Also the kitchen and washroom were just few steps away from our cabin and were super clean and well maintained which made us really happy.
We would love to stay at Ivalo River Camping again and would highly recommend this place.

Lovely peaceful resort situated near Ivalo, on the river. We ate a very very good salmon soup (the best we had in Finland, honestly :) We really recommend the restaurant - very good homemade food. The staff was extra friendly (Thank you, Nathalie, for all your kindness and for helping us with all our questions). They even let us try the sauna only for 30min (instead of 1h). The owner was also very nice and curious about our country - we had a very pleasant and interesting conversation during our breakfast (about ice hockey, Finland, pandemic situation). We really, really recommend this location!

Great resort place, west village right next to husky farm and horse farm. Decent planetarium also, but they need to learn a bit about running these shows :).
Do install the Aurora app if you are there for this. The Aurora alarm in rooms don't work, or atleast didn't work for me.

Ivalo itself was cute. Not too touristy, much quieter than places close by and everyone so friendly with a well stocked supermarket. Not too many places to eat but it depends what you’re looking for. As a young family, it was perfect for us!

Saariselka is a wonderland in winter.
Saariselka is a wonderland in winter. You can easily get all the required things such as food from K-market. There are lots of activities you can do in Saariselka such as skiing, snowshoeing, Ice Karting, bowling, Aurora Hunting tours, etc. You can easily reach here from Rovaniemi City by using public bus. There is a Ski bus that runs between Saariselka village and Saarselka Ski resort. I did my beginner ski lesson here. It was great. I spent my Christmas holidays here and most things are available to do. I did my skiing on Christmas day itself.

Ivalo is not big, but it is strategically positioned between Rovaniemi and Inari. Amazing location to admire the northern lights and visit Inari. Nature is incredible and it looks less touristy than Rovaniemi.

We spent a total of 7 days in Lapland. 2 near Ivalo, 3 in Kiilopaa, 2 in Saariselka proper. As a family some liked Ivalo better, others Kiilopaa, and others Saariselka. We stayed for 7 days to maximize our chances to see the Northern Lights and were fortunate to see them for 2 nights in a row. If we weren’t concerned about seeing Northern Lights, in terms of special “Lapland specific” experiences, I would have been satisfied with maybe 2 or 3 nights (husky, reindeer, snowmobile, ice fishing). But, if you spend extra days, there’s plenty to do — ice karting, cross country ski, snow shoe-Ing, ski/snowboarding, Siida museum, etc.

Best place to view Northern lights. Unique Husky ride , and snow mobile tours. Winter sports like skiing , cross country , snow walking.
Dreamy Winter Wonderland landscape ! Everything covered in snow is a picture perfect view .
Stay in a Glass Igloo cabin to view Northern lights ( weather permitted)
Renting a car is highly recommended , easy to get around even on an icy road . We used Alamo . Excellent car .
Book all your tours in advance to avoid disappointment .
Have fun and enjoy the cold . Be prepare to bring thermal clothing .
Ivalo is a perfect Winter Wonderland Destination !
