The room was very clean and it was good value for the cost. I arrived on a Sunday and the owners were not on site so I checked in using a code which the owners had sent me - the system worked fine. The room was perfectly adequate and breakfast was very well laid out. The owners are very proud of their hotel and they were so kind - I was on a bicycle trip and needed a bike repair shop - they went out of their way to help me out. Thank you! On Sunday there are only pizza restaurants open in town which was fine.

This was the most spartan hotel I have stayed in for a LONG time. The interior hallway had no windows or way of getting any natural light and the lights in the hallway had to be turned on when you entered the hallway but they didn't stay on very long; it was very dark when the lights went off. The room was adequate for a one night stay but it was very spartan in appearance. Parking was OK and the wifi worked.

Cozy little gem in the heart of the countryside, offering authentic atmosphere, home cooked local food and a wonderful location with plenty of small and medium hikes around. Very friendly people, family business with attention to detail and overwhelmingly positive hospitality. People from all around the area were there just for the wonderful food. We are definitely coming back!

I was there for only 12 hours. I stayed there when en route from Paris to Geneva, because accommodation in Geneva is very expensive. Bellegarde-s-V seems to be a very good centre for visiting Geneva, Annecy and other places.

A good town to use as a base for the area, to explore the mountain trails. Tourist office was very easy to find and was well equiped with information for the area. There weren't many restaurants in the area, so eating out required planning and booking. August is a holiday period so some were shut for 2-3 weeks! Travel to and from the area by car was excellent with many options and low traffic volumes.

Nantua is set on a beautiful lake in a perfect setting.

Nantua is set on a beautiful lake in a perfect setting. There is a great bar/restaurant beside the lake where you can while away an evening and watch the sun go down with a beautiful sunset over the lake. There are lovely walks and the town feels very peaceful.

No expectation because we were just pass-through travelers. In fact the old city center is quite nice and they make a visible effort to make it an attractive place (office de tourisme of the region). As in many of the smaller towns in the countryside however it also shows the gentrification. Quite a lot of closed shops and small services that are closed or visibly suffering. Half a day for the town is enough. The surrounding environment however is very nice countryside, looks like great roads for cycling easy hills and also probably nice hiking.

I was just there for the night, to get an early start back to the UK from the Alps. The publicity for the area looked great and it could be a great place to walk in the summer being in the heart of the Jura.

I love thé location of Oyonnax, the peace of being in the...

I love thé location of Oyonnax, the peace of being in the midst of the Jura mountains. It’s also close to Lyon and yet does not have the hassle of parking and traffic but is easy to get to. The Jura is one of the best kept secrets in France and not a tourist destination, which is great. Love the Nouvel Hotel, thé Lac Genin Auberge, the general authenticity of Oyonnax and its surrounding villages.
