Location was great and the room exceeded our expectations. It was really nice for us to all have our own bed and two bathrooms. The food in the restaurant was really good and reasonably priced. In fact, we ended up eating dinner and breakfast there for our one night stay.

I loved that the inn was right across from Loch Lomond. It had a great view and was very close to the walking path to the loch. I also loved how friendly the staff were and how easy it was to book a dinner reservation. Breakfast was really great too and they were very accommodating. The room was big and I loved how the space was utilized with furniture, and the balcony doors and balcony were a great bonus.

FAQs about hotels in Loch Lomond

A Real Jewel of the Scottish Highlands

Set amongst the hills and mountains of the Scottish Highlands, Loch Lomond is one of the country’s largest lakes featuring over 30 islands and surrounded by lush greenery and picturesque villages. Immortalised by a 19th-century song "The Bonnie Banks o' Loch Lomond", this majestic lake is part of Scotland’s first national park.

Start your journey at Balloch, where you can get on a direct train from Glasgow in less than an hour. Popular with tourists, the town has plenty to offer; from Loch Lomond Shores, a complex mixing leisure and shopping opportunities to Balloch Castle Country Park, ideal for a pleasant walk.

You can catch a boat going up the Loch Lomond and admire the lake and the surrounding mountains, including the highest peak, Ben Lomond, at 974 metres. Just 12 km from Balloch, there is the small village of Drymen, a popular stop for hikers with what is claimed to be the oldest pub in Scotland, The Clachan.

The area of Loch Lomond is great for hiking, golfing and water sports, making it a perfect destination for those into the outdoors or sports activities. Visiting the lake’s largest island, Ichmurrin, is also a must, the views from there are truly unforgettable!

Hamish, the general manager, was filling in as bartender. He was SO friendly and welcoming! He spent several hours chatting everybody up and making the atmosphere wonderful. We loved his banter with his English friend haha This location was great and every staff member went out of their way to say hello and chat. Highly recommend!

This are cute little hut like dwellings that seem similar to staying in a large size RV. Everything we needed was there and it felt very cozy. It was in a perfect location for walkers on the West Highland Way.

Beautiful area, it would have been better if it hadn’t rained most of the week. Our last day was bright and sunny so we saw it at its best. We had a couple of great meals at the Queen of the Loch in Balloch, lovely carvery. There is a lovely gift shop, Loch Lomond gift house, run by a very helpful lady who gave us a map of the area and showed us places to go. The boat tour of the Loch was very interesting and informative.

We have stayed here before and will do so again. The hotel could do with a coat of paint here and there but don't let that put you off - it is comfortable and represents good value for money in a very scenic area. Food is typical - nothing fancy but all good stuff and we have found the staff to be cheery and helpful.

Great location and views.

Great location and views. The staff were friendly, helpful and welcoming. Rooms were clean comfortable and good value. Spent a very comfortable night in all. Didn’t mind stripping bed in am and disposing of linen to be cleaned. It was reassuring that we had clean linen. In some other places we weren’t sure if this was the case. I would recommend Rowardennan to others.

There's not much in Tarbet, apart from the Hotel and a good restaurant, but its convenient for the Loch, and its on a junction of the main roads, so there's good access to other parts. There is a bus stop that the long distance bus services stop at. Loch boat trips depart from the pier. The Tarbet Hotel is a great place to stay. The Kirk 'o the Lochs is a good place to eat.

I travelled for work and spent 3 nights at the property.

I travelled for work and spent 3 nights at the property. Firstly, it came in well within budget and was cheaper that many of the hotels and B&B's in the area and had the added benefit of your own kitchen and living-room. When working away from home you look for the basics of clean, comfortable, good shower and location. This had it all. Cleanliness couldn't be faulted. The kitchen was modern and well appointed and the bed was very comfortable. The free Wifi and Sky TV was a bonus. Parking was on the street to the front but there was never an issue and there was a shared garden to the rear which I made use of in the recent good weather. Access was made possible by a key box and the combination came by email prior to my arrival. This property did tick all the boxes. It was located centrally in Alexandria within walking distance to the shops and nearby take-aways. If anything, the property lacked a mirror which would have been handy in the bathroom but otherwise this property is a great budget place to stay and ideal if you're working in or exploring the Loch Lomond area.

Food in the restaurant was good quality.

Food in the restaurant was good quality. We were there as a group and we were all happy with our main courses. I was pleased with the breakfast in the morning. I was very unhappy with the room the shower tray was not draining the water, leak and the window sill was all wet, damage to the inside of the bathroom door as well as the bottom of the wooden door going into the bedroom. The place was clean. The shower was powerful with massage jets.
