The hall has stunning interior, welcoming wood fire, food was freshly made and very well priced with good potions. Tranquil and welcoming atmosphere. The room we had, room 1 was outstanding with views of the country. Full of comfort and very peaceful. Will be returning. This is now my favourite place to stay.

The staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel was very clean, the food was excellent. We were lucky in the respect that the room we had, had been decorated the previous week but, we certainly got the impression there would be no problem with the other rooms. Overall, a very pleasant stay and well worth the money.

As usual we had a grand time . We come over from Bergen Norway every December to go to the pantomime with my family. Everyone is so friendly and the young man who brought supplies nearly every afternoon was kind and very pleasant. The afternoon tea which we ordered for us and my family turned out to be a real treat. We all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Each morning it was a real pleasure to go down to breakfast and be looked after by Janice, a wonderful lady, who made our mornings very special. The other kitchen staff too must be remembered, as it was their work that made the meals possible.

A beautiful, ancient historic town with the river Severn...

A beautiful, ancient historic town with the river Severn winding through it between the English and Welsh road bridges. It has many good eating places and shops, lots of cobbled streets and is bound to be thought attractive by a visitor. The only surprising feature, which we haven’t encountered before, was a few groups of loud men in the streets - possibly and hopefully just a symptom of the day being New Year’s Eve - albeit in the late afternoon rather than late evening. Otherwise, we could not fault the town as a destination.

It was a serene place to visit.

It was a serene place to visit. I visited Greggs a lot for breakfast and snacks. I drove throughout my stay, so it was easy to get to places quickly. My journeys were about 10 to 15 mins each time. I attended an event so I ate there on day two. I didn't explore as such but enjoyed the views as I drove around town.

Ludlow is such a lovely picturesque town with many attractions. We didn't stay long enough as we only went for one night to see a concert at the Assembly rooms. We had a look around the street market which has a nice variety of wares. There are a number of nice looking cafes, restaurants and public houses including the Church Inn where we stayed (see other review), and of course there is the castle where we have been previously, but not this time. We visited the museum which is full of interest and well worth a visit. It would be easy to spend quite a few days here without getting bored and there are many surrounding places to visit.

The town has lots of history and many interesting, old buildings. Not too difficult to get around considering the topology, the river and its age. It's a great size for exploring on foot once you're there. We enjoyed a Sunday lunch at the Old Castle Inn. It's many, many years since I'd been to Bridgnorth so it was great to revisit the Cliff Railway, the Castle Gardens and the Town Hall. Parking is cheaper in Low Town so I'd recommend leaving your car there and using the Cliff Railway.

The Iron Bridge is truly magnificent and now to see it...

The Iron Bridge is truly magnificent and now to see it returned to it's original paint colour is marvellous. Be sure to view it at night too, when it is illuminated and makes a fabulous subject for a photo or painting. All of the museums in the area are well worth a visit and with it only costing £3 more to visit them all, rather than just one, it makes it very affordable, particularly for a whole family. Blists Hill Victorian Village is excellent and has developed and improved since my last visit over 10 years ago. Enginuity is recommended, with lots of very interesting and fun "hands on" interactive exhibits for children (and adults!) to enjoy. Finally, a guided tour of the Jackfield Tile Museum by a friendly and knowledgeable guide set the scene for the rest of the visit around the museum. I didn't realise that tiles could be so interesting and full of history - excellent. A trip on the Severn Valley Railway is a must, whether you are a rail enthusiast or not. Beautiful scenery, superbly restored stations and the Engine House Museum and cafe are part of experience. It is like travelling back in time. Much Wenlock is a small but beautiful, historic village with some fabulous old buildings, nice little local shops and cafes and a local museum. For fans of sport, it is amazing to think that the "modern" Olympic Games re-started here some years ago!

A nice market?

A nice market? town with plenty of places to eat and some smaller shops selling many different things. Easy to get to and from motorway as is the train station. Close but not too close to Telford and Wolverhampton so situated perfectly. RAF museum is a 10 minute train ride - cuts out paying for car parking too, Wolverhampton isn't much farther and so can easily get to The Black Country Museum, (which one of our days we went to), Dudley Castle & Zoo plus of course Birmingham itself, way more appealing than driving there!

Quite a small town & we were surprised when we arrived that they have half-day closing on a Wednesday. We went to the Castle Pub, food was good & staff were friendly. Just a 10 minute walk from The Old Rectory where we stayed. The hotel only do Light Bites in the evening which is why we ate in The Castle.
