It exceeded my expectations. The room was big and very clean. Very close to train station, with several restaurants/cafes nearby. Mt. Fuji is visible from the hotel.

The best accommodation we stayed at during our trip to Japan! The house is beautiful, newly built, and great furnished. There are two toilets with bidets, a bath tub, two showers, and everything is fully automatic. The kitchen is perfectly equipped with everything you could possibly need. There’s a small courtyard where you can relax and rent a grill or fireplace. The house has three bedrooms, so it can easily accommodate a larger group, but it’s also perfect for a couple. The view of the forest is lovely, and the surroundings are calm and peaceful. Although it’s a bit outside the city center, the location is perfect if you rent a car — and it’s also easy to get there by taxi. Everything is clean, comfortable, and modern — a truly wonderful place without any negatives. We absolutely loved it and would definitely stay here again!

This place is awesome. It is very close to Kawaguchiko station. You can literally walk. The service is awesome. The check in and check out was smooth. The room was great. The service was great. The onsen, bath, and Mt Fuji view were astonishing. We loved every minute of our stay. It is so close to the lake. There is a free shuttle to the station and service is great. The breakfast had a plenty of choices of traditional and non traditional food. The dinner ceremony and variety were amazing. We loved our experience. We get a feel of Japanese culture in this hotel.

We loved this accommodation and it was perfect for our family of 5. The host was so helpful and provided us with a very useful map of the area. The accommodation was clean and well thought out- we even had a hairdryer and useful items in the kitchen. The bedding was cozy, heating was good and I slept really well here. The view of Mount Fuji is incredible. We used a car to get around the area, as advised, and this worked well for us. Overall we would definitely recommend this accommodation and we would love to return. Wish we could have stayed here for longer!

We arrived on a very rainy day and were pleasantly surprised the next day when Mt Fuji showed itself in its full glory right from the window of our room. The hotel is a little outdated, but still had all the amenities and comforts. Breakfast was also very good. The location and the resort style cafes/restaurants were also a very pleasant surprise. Unfortunately we only stayed the night, wish we could have stayed longer. The hotel offers free shuttle from the train station, that was a bonus. Highly recommend people stay here and explore the area.

We absolutely loved our stay at Kawaguchiko Country Cottage Ban! The cottage was cozy and comfortable, with a breathtaking view of Mount Fuji right from our terrace. We enjoyed the most amazing BBQ dinner, beautifully arranged like bento boxes — delicious and so refined. The breakfast soup was comforting and healing, truly the best we’ve ever had. A perfect place to relax and take in the beauty of the area!

The convenience shop was within walking distance, and the staff were incredibly helpful. I was looking for a place to buy a wheelchair, but it seemed that the area wasn’t convenient for finding one. A busy little hub.

A busy little hub. Views of Mt Fuji from everywhere on a fine day. Big enough to have numerous restaurants and stores. A big lake with walks and activities. The ropeway and it's views a must stop.

Fujiyoshida offers beautiful views of Mt.

Fujiyoshida offers beautiful views of Mt. Fuji — on a clear day, you can see the mountain from almost anywhere in town. It’s very close to Mt. Fuji and other nearby attractions, making it a great base for exploring the area. I actually prefer staying in Fujiyoshida over Kawaguchiko because it’s less crowded but just as convenient and scenic.

Lake Yamanaka is such a pretty place - Mt.

Lake Yamanaka is such a pretty place - Mt. Fuji never showed her face during our stay for the icon lake photos but it didn’t take away from the magic. The little town just 20 mins away by bus from our domes was super cute, filled with history, culture, and more shopping.

The sea shore was the great place to visit. The city doesn't seem to have many restaurants, especially around the hotel. There is a supermarket where I had lunch, cash only, credit card is not accepted.

The outlets have always been raved about, but they're just...

The outlets have always been raved about, but they're just high-end shopping outlets that you could find anywhere. It's not unique to Japan and was a bit of a waste of our time. Otherwise, Gotemba is the perfect area overlooking Fuji, and we love returning every year! Rembrandt Premium Hotel is by far the highlight for us with their meals and stay.

Perfect location!

Perfect location! You can see the majestic Mount Fuji from the window. The mountain view in the morning mist is breathtaking. The room is clean and cozy, fully equipped. The host is warm and thoughtful, making me feel as comfortable as staying at home. I will definitely come again!

It's a beautiful area.

It's a beautiful area. We were very lucky with the weather because we had brilliant views of Mt Fuji from everywhere. There is NO need to take a photo in front of the Lawson because there are better views from almost any street. It's nice to just walk around and visit the cafes and restaurants. FujiFab cafe in Shumiyoshida is a very hipster cafe.

I recommend staying.

I recommend staying. I wrote a long review separately which I hope is useful; please refer to that. In addition, for young children, you can visit the sheep shed where they keep the sheep to see sheep up close, wander down and the up the hill behind reception, and get the best tasting soft serve ever from the restaurant!

We stayed for just one night to have the amazing view and cheaper hostel prices. One night in yamanakako, one night in kawaguchico, is perfect. Yamanakako is quieter and less touristy, which is exactly what we wanted. However, the bus schedule limits how many places you can go cuz they come every 1 hr

I travelled from Tokyo to Shin-Fuji via Kodama Shinkansen.

I travelled from Tokyo to Shin-Fuji via Kodama Shinkansen. The fare is ¥5900 one way and travel time is nearly an hour. I stayed at Toyoko Inn which is 150 meters from the Shin Fuji station. There are lots of car rentals in the area but I was not able to get one as they only accept advance booking from their website. It took me 2 hours getting to and from the foot of Mt. Fuji, by bus and a 15 minute walk in the village to reach my destinations. Roads are quite narrow but they are common in Japan. Like most countryside places in Japan, Fuji is relatively clean, rich in nature, and lots of places to explore. My advice if you want to visit Fuji: 1. Travel by Shinkansen going to and from Fuji. 2. Rent a car so you can visit most of the attractions in and around Mt. Fuji. 3. Spend at leat 3-4 days in the area. 4. Bring cash with you always as most establishments are cash based. 5. Download Papago app on your phone so you can translate Japanese images, signs, etc if you're having difficulty understanding the language. That's it and enjoy your trip to Mt. Fuji.
