We had a wonderful stay. The breakfast was super delicious, a highlight for us. There also is a very nice garden area and many common areas to sit with a nice view of the garden or on the roof. The hosts and all workers were very kind. We also liked the ease of having a key to the outside gate so you can go and come whenever you want while still being super safe. Parking was very convenient and safe.

The staff were so kind and helpful. I forgot my glasses in the hotel room an pd hadn’t realised, but they messaged me to let me know and I was able to retrieve them again. The hotel has a lovely old style room. The breakfast area and garden is so tranquil. The location is perfect, so close to the main square of Valladolid.

Great for family vacation, make sure to do the tour to Chichen Itza, Centoes and Valladolid. You can book this tour beforehand on bookings.com but also take note that an additional 765MXN per person is required to visit the historical sites. Your total spend will end up being around 100usd per person but its so worth it! Other than that, getting around is relatively easy, we stayed in the Zona Hotelera so many things were accessible via bus.

By far the best thing about Playa del Carmen is the close...

By far the best thing about Playa del Carmen is the close proximity to cenotes. They are amazing water filled caves that you can explore, but you'll always need to do so with a guide. Otherwise, Playa del Carmen is pretty whatever. Kinda fun if you're looking for touristy party bar vibes (like Hard Rock Cafe type stuff), but generally it feels like a tourist trap for the most part. There are soooo many scammers here and it's really hard to tell what is a legitimate official group or just another scammer. For example, the Tulum national park entrance is filled with people selling tickets and tours as if they are park employees, but they are not. They even have constructed a fake security gate entrance to make it appear you must buy tickets before entering the park area, and of course the tickets they sell are about 4x the actual price. The beaches could be nice if they weren't filled with garbage. This is likely because many street food vendors and restaurants serve styrofoam and plastic utensils that frequently end up on the beach and broken into tiny bits. So the beaches are actually quite ugly as a result. Tren Maya is pretty useless since they decided to construct it miles inland from the towns, so it just leaves you in the middle of the jungle. Overall, I mostly just felt like I was being ripped off every day I was in Playa de Carmen and the area around it. I'd only recommend visiting a cenote or two and leaving for some place nicer.

Historical city with lots of wonderful restaurants featuring Yucatecan cuisine. I loved walking around the Municipal Market (Mercado)...so much to see and buy there Side trips to Valladolid and cenotes, and Xcambo and Xtampu were interesting and reasonably priced. I also took a cooking class from Sofia at her home...a fun day with excellent Yucatecan food.

There is so much to do in Tulum but you need to decide if you want to stay beachside or in the 'town area' which are 5 kms away from each other. activities include: visits to the many different Cenotes nearby, the Laguna de Kaan Luum , the archaeological ruins and of course the beach. We found Tulum to be more expensive than other places in Mexico but if you prefer somewhere more authentic than Playa Del Carmen this would be a good option. We stayed in the 'town area' where there were plenty of good cafes and restaurants to choose from and a lovely local vibe.

Volcano Views Epic.

Volcano Views Epic. Find accommodation with roof top for views of Volcano. People wonderful. Go to the Mercado Central (Market). Great places to eat, great place for digital nomads (Impact Hub). Perfect temperature. Not too warm, just need a few layers in the evening. Google maps top rating restaurants and they live up to their rating! Whole town walkable. Do the Acatenango hike, sleep up the mountain to watch the volcano (Fuego) and sun rise at the top. Don't worry about which agency to use. It's not a hike where they can deviate too much. But would recommend: Gilmor Soy Fuego Volcano Tour: https://soytours.com/en/.

Guatemala is a very colorful and fascinating country.

Guatemala is a very colorful and fascinating country. Tikal, Antigua and Lake Atitlan are world class scenery. The Mayan people are still very much alive with their beautiful vivid color clothing and smiling faces. They are generally very friendly and almost spiritual feeling with a different vibe than people in Mexico. The climate is perfect at around 70 degrees in the Highlands. I feel it is very safe there if you stay in main areas. Don't hesitate to visit Guatemala if you want a true 3rd world experience!

though we were at the seasonal end of the Rainy season the roads did flood. The Hotel is far from the city center and are not walkable during certain times. taxi four wheelers at 200 pesos on way. Mangroves and rain make for flooded passages. We rented a bikes to get around however the puddles were too deep to get through. You do need GPS many options of getting to and from the hotel in Coco beach area. taking the weather in stride we enjoyed our 5 night stay in Holbox. There were great sunny periods and walked the beaches, sat under palapas, swam, and walked the sand bars at low tide, Coco beach and Mosquito. This place is what Tulum must have been 30 years ago. There is plenty of development/construction here and if you want to beat the commercialism it is time to go now, Luv it woud go back in a flash. I will go back. We found the best vegan vegetarian place Artes Sona a must.

A beautiful and atmospheric place surrounded by mountains, with friendly streets and good restaurants at fair prices. However, it’s very frustrating that the hiking trails are almost impossible to find; people come here to hike, yet the national park was closed. In the narrow streets, the car exhaust fumes linger, and it’s hard to breathe; the traffic is extremely heavy, even though the town could easily be explored on foot or by bike.
