This was an exceptional find in the heart of Haarlem. Situated in an old building it has just been taken over by new owners who were on site every day. The building is beautiful, exudes character and charm. The room was large, quiet and well appointed. Breakfast was a special occasion and we felt totally spoilt by the team. Can’t wait to come back!

Haarlem is beautiful and the Christmas market was amazing and very large. If your going for any festival then make dinner reservations on line well in advance! very hard to find anywhere not pre booked! We met a lovely girl in Tierney's Irish Pub after telling her we had been walking for 2 hours trying to find somewhere to eat she managed to find us a table, absolute star. Steak House well if you like raw meat when we asked for well done, powdery prawns and plastic coleslaw then this place is for you! very disappointing.

Zandvoort is a well known year round seaside destination near Amsterdam and needs no introduction from me. There is a Centre Parcs nearby for the kids on a rainy day or a special treat. Parking could be better provisioned but there is a train station and once in Zandvoort everything is in walking distance.

The actual town was just a town, nothing to see really except local shops. There was a WW2 bunker/museum just along from the hotel but the Google information about opening times was not accurate, I was stood at the locked front door when Google said it was open. Check before planning a visit.

A modern tower block next to a MacDonalds, and a large dual carriageway. Facilities for dining and socialising incredibly restricted and dull. Seems to be full of workers - smoking outside the front door. Bedrooms claim to be deluxe, they are clean and pleasant - not deluxe by any stretch of the imagination.

It is not a hotel

It is not a hotel It’s just a few rooms in another building 250 metres from a parent hotel of another name The restaurant below is good but not attached to the hotel The geography of the “annex” room is not made clear and thoroughly inconvenient. The room was pleasant but up two flights of extremely steep stairs and the available lift not at all clear until you get to know your way around No I would not book again with this hotel

If this means the town itself, well, there are more historic and "prettier" Dutch towns but it has everything you need. The 'centre' is hard to find but there is a station from where you can get to Den Gelder, Amsterdam, etc. Bike parking in the station is NOT secure. There ARE NO CAMERAS anywhere. The supermarket, Jumbo, has a wide range of items. I ate twice at the restaurant 't Schippersrijk" and it is absutely EXCEPTIONAL. Love lakeside setting , nice ambience and excellent food and service. If you want to explore North Holland, then this is a good base.

Haarlem is similar to Amsterdam but a little more sedate and pleasant in our view. Amsterdam is only 20 minutes on the train from Haarlem. It is much cheaper to stay in Haarlem and commute if you want to do that. There are canals to travel on, bars and restaurants, a few museums of excellent quality and several interesting activities. We went on a small group walking tour via "getyourguide" which was good value. We got to see some of the lovely shopping and residential streets in the city, Hofjes (gardens) and sampled some local cuisine including coffee, chocolate, licquorice, candied nuts, beer and snacks. This was one of our highlights as we saw Haarlem from a locals point of view, avoiding all the tourist traps. We like good food and beer and went to several great bars and a fantastic restaurant (Ollivers) all walking distance from the apartment.

Inflation is a common thing, but Zandvoort tops it all.

Inflation is a common thing, but Zandvoort tops it all. Parking for the week was 120 €. In town you have to pay 4€ for the first two hours (minimum time), thereafter 7 € per hour. Frikandel from the FEBO vending machine was 3 € a piece. More expensive than in Alkmaar (2.40€) and even Amsterdam. Kibbeling varied in quality, but we found a good place at the beach (7.50 € with 4 sauces!). Restaurant were generally very "greedy". Top prices for Pizza Margherita 14.50 €, Tomato Soup 9 €, Cheesecake 9 € and Schnitzel with fries and salad 37.50 €!!!! Petrol about 30-35 cents per liter more than in Germany. I don't know how families with children can afford these prices??? I believe that other locations in The Netherlands are more reasonable, for example Provinz Zeeland, which we visited earlier this year. Zandvoort is for "High Society"!!!???

I had been to IJmuiden as a child many times and I am familiar with the neighbouring towns we had intended to visit. Instead, we went further afield and upon the advice of the staff we planned our route slightly different. The staff are very very competent and knowledgeable, always smiling and making sure their guests have everything they need. For us…our time there was too short but nevertheless a fantastic stay. Thank you everyone for your care , hospitality and helpful service. We loved our stay with you
