Wonderful historic hotel. Room seemed recently renovated, very clean and fantastic view on the water. Starting your day with a dive into the pool or the fjord is quite cool. Afterwards enjoy a nice breakfast with view of the early sun on the water makes it a lovely place to stay for 1-2 nights.

Great host, available on short notice, he even gave me great tips for ski-touring in the area. Staying in Sogndal wasn't part of my original plan, but after visiting, I will probably return in the future. It is one of the few priceworthy places to stay in northern Europe.

I visited Sogndal as a starting point to travel to Urnes...

I visited Sogndal as a starting point to travel to Urnes Stave Church. The little town was a welcome change from the busy life of the big city such as Bergen. The weather was cloudy and rainy, but a walk on Fjordstien was a lovely pastime.

Sogndal is a perfect home base if you want to spend a couple...

Sogndal is a perfect home base if you want to spend a couple of days exploring the Sognefjord. It is the right size for walking around either day or night. People are very friendly and helpful. I don't think there was a launderette in town, that I remember, and that would have been helpful.

We didn’t like that the owner is advertising pictures with a...

We didn’t like that the owner is advertising pictures with a view of the fiord from the cabin and we could see only two cabins in front of us!! Pictures which he used are taken from a different cabin on the property. It was also hard to get hold of him. It took us 1 and half hour. Also the public road behind the cabin was noisy.
