Very pleasant atmosphere thanks to the kind owners. The place offers access to the sea and at the same time a stay in the jungle, a generous terrace with a restaurant lies practically in the treetops. We also took advantage of the offer of dinners, we were satisfied. The owners offer to rent kayaks, snorkels with goggles. They can also arrange trips and advise on what activities can be undertaken.

Pure Roots is a magical place! You are in the jungle and see all kinds of birds and wildlife, but you still have all of your comforts, like a nice bed, a beautiful relaxing space with a deck and hammock, a clean bathroom and hot shower. Jen cooks amazing dishes and always has the coffee on when you arrive for breakfast. She accommodates your dietary needs and the food includes lots of fresh fruits and vegetables. You can even watch her machete a fresh coconut for you to drink from, to get an electrolyte boost!
I stayed for 5 nights.

Location was fabulous. Lots of windows with gorgeous views of wayer.

The food was excellent, and staff was very friendly. Great place for snorkeling, every offered excursion was a unique experience we where able to see sloths, western night monkeys, red dart frogs, 2 baby dolphins along with many adults, reef sharks, jelly fish, sea stars and many fish species along with stingrays snorkeling just out in front of the resort. The insects/bugs where minimum during our visit in September didn't even use our bug spray. This resort could be difficult for those who have an issue with some bugs and wildlife visiting them in there room, however you need to remember this is a nature resort and you are sleeping in a bungalow in the rainforest. With this fact in mind the amount of bugs and such in our room was very minimal and did not bother us at all the rooms where very clean.

Very pretty location among large tropical trees. Carmen and Marcel are incredible hosts. For four days you feel like part of a family with the hosts and other guests. The breakfast is large and flavorful and the dinners combine great food with fun company. We also had two sloths hanging out in the nearby trees.

I truly loved the Island of Bastimentos of which I stayed.
I truly loved the Island of Bastimentos of which I stayed. I did long walks along the island and I also hiked right through the middle of the island to get to Wizard beach. It's a gem that's unspoiled and untouched by droves of tourist. I hope it stays that way.
However, I have one big issue with this Island called Bastimentos that was heart breaking for me. There was entirely too much garbage strewn along the edges circulating the island. They need a major litter clean up campaign by this community. It was a turn off for such a beautiful Island with beautiful people.
Entirely to much garbage like plastic bottles, cans, glass bottles, old cloths, bags, etcetera, etcetera, etcetera. I don't know if it's washed up by the sea from neighboring islands or thrown there by the community. It's highly visible and can ruin visitors coming here if they don't clean it up.
I can only hope this matter of pollution is addressed. All the best Bastimentos.
