Very calm and clean place. I am sorry we couldn't check the Pira restaurant but judging by the quality of the hotel it is supposed to also be a little gem. Our room was spacious, clean, warm enough for the winter season, well equipped. The staff is friendly and ready to support. Breakfast is also nice with an accent on local products.

Great place to stay. I would stay here again. The trains at night were not noisy and I slept through them. The place was comfortable, clean and private. The kitchen is good and has a fridge and stove. Plenty of parking too. There is a washing machine in the room to do laundry.
The owner even provides earplugs if the noise bothers you. But most of the noise is during the day. If you have the window closed, you rarely hear the noise.

We liked everything!
Super kind host, beautiful area and facilities, really clean and nice rooms(Hitachi AC devices are rarely seen in even more expensive hotels, so you know they invested in a high quality interior), big and nice bathroom, big parking.
The property itself seemed like a great place to host weddings or parties, we will come back!

Very good hotel, ideal for visiting Postojna or on the way...
Very good hotel, ideal for visiting Postojna or on the way to the Adriatic Sea. Very warm and courteous welcome, super rich and yet inexpensive breakfast. Despite its proximity to the main road, the room was very quiet. Air conditioning is available, but we didn't need it. We can fully recommend this hotel.

Cerknica is nothing impressive, it has some charms of many other small Slovenian towns, but nothing to be especially remembered for. But as a start point for interesting and beautiful sightseeing and adventures it can be considered one of the best in (and not limited to) Slovenia.

Kosarisce is a small village in a fairly remote valley.
Kosarisce is a small village in a fairly remote valley. Stari Trg is the biggest village in the valley. It's great for peace and quiet and nature lovers. You can go bear watching. Locals are very friendly once you say hello in Slovenian and smile. You need to have a car to get here, but once here you can reach a few other villages and Sneznik Castle by walking. It would also be a great place to explore by bike.

beautiful old building and nice and cool inside as was height of summer . No need for fan or aircon as beautifully cool stone building. Very comfortable beds, nice clean en suite, very welcoming staff. Really nice stay. Would stay again in a heartbeat.

The caves were incredible - a great experience.
The caves were incredible - a great experience. We bought the ticket which also gave access to the vivarium. Make sure you dress warmly for both as the caves are very cold. There is a shuttle - an additional 2 Euros return- that takes you from the hotel car park to Predjama Castle. This was also so interesting and well worth a visit.

The apartment is hosted by a wonderful and helping lady. It was spotless clean and provided with everything that you would need for a 3-4 days visit- comfortable and clean beds, pots and utensils for cooking, huge TV with Netflix. The location is also good for day trips to Ljubliana, the caves and the Sneznik Castle is close-by. The hostess even gifted us with home-made honey.

We were on a cycling tour and stayed at Pira Hotel for 2 nights to explore Postojna Caves, Rakov Skocjan National Park and Predjama castle. Skocjan Caves is only 20km away too and we visited that the day before. It’s interesting to see that Skocjan Caves and Postojna Caves are ranked #4 and #6 in the world’s best caves and indeed they are amazing and should not be missed so a 2 or more night stay makes sense.
